All Calzaghe did was start to consistantly throw the jab and it limited Kesslers offence to practically nothing apart from uppercuts. As well as that Pavlik has to set to throw punches Calzaghe is at his best moving in and out of range and Pavlik has very poor handspeed. Pavlik would get horribly out jabbed and would not be able to land anything other than mabye a decent right/body shot up close now and again. He would land more against Calzaghe than he would Hopkins, but he would be hit about twice as much too, I know Calzaghe has poor power. But Pavlik does not fight well when he is off balence and Calzaghe moving in and out from all angles constantly throwing shots would mess Pavlik up badly. Calzaghe UD 12-0/11-1
Kessler has FAR faster hands than Pavlik and his shots are less telegraped and more compact. I said it before the Hopkins fight and I'll say it again, Calzaghe would thrash Pavlik winning every round. It is a pity he didn't take the fight instead of the RJJ one, as he could have got huge kudos for doing what Hopkins did.
I think 30-odd opponents would disagree. He's no Julian Jackson, but he's a hurtful puncher. Are you saying he's some kind of Malignaggi figure?
Please name me the last legit stoppage he recorded. He landed at will on Lacy for 12 rounds and still couldn't stop him.
You fail to mention that Bhop did not beat pavlik by just simply moving in and out. Which is ALL of calzaghes movement. HE HAS NO LATERAL MOVEMENT. HE CANNOT CIRCLE GUYS LIKE BHOP OR DAWSON, FLOYD etc etc. That is footwork. He throws punches from odd angles but he is right in front of you. Thats why he gets hit so much. He squared up all the time. Floyd sr said the same **** about him. His punch technique is **** poor and is the REASON he injures his hands. Not b/c of his power. He landed more Clean punches on lacy as humanly possible but could not stop him. That is a failure in its own. Especially b/c Calzaghe was GOING for the KO. That is more sad. You clowns need to stop giving this guy credit for footwork. That **** is not footwork. Watch his ****ing feet. :rofl:rofl Is he moving or pivoting in position. No... he aint. He just bounces in and bounces. Show me some calzaghe footwork so I can laugh at you.
He still beat the guy even if it was close. And he beat the guy who made Tarver and Pavlik, 2 P4P-ers look like amateurs. Where's credit for that, bro? :think By the way, when did Lacy punished Calzaghe for his mistakes?
He made Calzaghe look like an amateur. I guess you forget that part of the commentary. Taylor beat him twice. A younger version as well. Dumb asses.
"I said all along Kelly Pavlik was overrated, overhyped and hadn't done anything in his career to a warrant a fight with me. This was evident Saturday night when Hopkins destroyed and exposed him for what he is. That is why I wasn't going to waste my time fighting him and went straight to a bout with Roy Jones who has proved himself time and time again that he is one of the greatest fighters in our era. I have been a champion for 11 years and I am only interested in fighting legends. "They told me that the place was packed with Pavlik fans who either sat stunned or actually started cheering for Hopkins. My fans will have a great night at Madison Square Garden in New York as I will give them no reason to cheer for Roy Jones. I am sure it was a long trip back for all those people from Ohio. I tell my fans, don't worry, we will be partying on the plane ride home. Calzaghe is a complete cocksucker! I hope RJJ starches his ass!
Cal had the decency to tell Pav to pad his resume lol, Hop didn't. Cal knew all along Pav was not in his class.
lol, you have to give it to Pav's fans lol. It would've been a one sided beating. Cal wouldn't have stopped punching and might've even ko'd Pav for all the **** talking he and Loew did about him.
No, he is not a sucker for right hands. Hop caught him and Cal made himself invisible after that. Cal is crafty and is just as good defensively as Hop. Cal gives PAv a one sided thrashing also. And due to the fact tha tPAv talked a lot, who knows if he would've ko'd PAv. Lacy has a decent chin so you can't go by who Cal didn't stop. Lacy and Pav aren't the same fighter. It is possible that Cal would've stopped Pav.
