Would Calzaghe have "Lacy'ed" Froch?

Calzaghe mixed it with bangers, brawlers, dirty *******s, technicians, straight up boxers and beat them all in a variety of ways with busted up hands. Not even Carl Froch's biggest fan would back the Cobra to beat a half decent Calzaghe. Calzaghe used to love a good tear up and often stood toe to toe wailing away with some fearsome punchers. That punch that he got decked with by Byron Mitchell would have put an end to most LHWs careers... Calzaghe got up and finished Mitchell within a minute. Froch would never touch Calzaghe with one of those lazy ass jabs and he certainly couldn't stop Joe. Joe would be far to quick and accurate for Froch too. It's not even a debate about the result. I can see Froch landing some good punches and winning a round or two though.

    Calzaghe 118-110 Froch. Wide.

So what caliber of fighters that Froch has beat did Lacy? In what way is this a valid comparison of boxers?

That Calzaghe fans still bring up the Lacy fight after all these years speaks volumes.

It's a general term that's accepted and used around here. Nobody is bringing up the Jeff Lacy fight except you. The term being "Lacy'ed" is language.

Calzaghe wouldn't Lacy him....are you ****ing kidding? Froch would be his best ever opponent. Calzaghe would win a wide UD but nothing as bad as the Lacy fight, there'd be close rounds and rounds where Froch wins. Froch clearly has way better resume already but head to head Calzaghe schools him

Easy nights work for Joe in a shutout:yep

Joe throws stacks of punches & faster than anything Froch could handle. Froch too me is what i call a reactionary fighter, you hit him then he'll hit you!! Bit Laural & Hardy for me.

Joe would run rings around him IMHO. But for entertainment & action then you'll always get yer $$$$ worth from a Froch fight as with his style he's always in a war:smoke

Amazing how Slappy Joe has suddenly become Sugar Ray Leonard on here since he retired :rofl

Froch would be the best fighter Slappy ever faced at 168, and he struggled on more than one occasion with far worse fighters than Froch. Could go either way.

How the heck would Froch be Calzaghe's best opponent?

An older and damaged Kessler beat the brakes out of him in close fight years after Calzaghe handled Kessler.

And Calzaghe beat prime Kessler pretty decisively.

HOPKINS is the best opponent Calzaghe ever had. EVER.

Calzaghe Lacys Froch and Lacys him hard.

If you want to play that game, Froch knocked out Taylor who beat a younger version of Hopkins twice.

Taylor beat Hopkins far more decisively than Slappy did too.

Slappy had the opportunity to fight Froch before he retired, he chose to pick on 40+ year old guys instead....just about sums up the rest of his career too. Avoid any risks at all costs, funny how it almost bit the coward on the arse against Hopkins but he just about squeaked it.

Not a chance but he would win and win well.

H2H Calzaghe wins 9/10. Resume wise its kind of hard to defend it anymore, infact i would personally put Froch ahead.

That's what I don't get....you put those 2 statements together and it just doesn't make sense to me :huh

As I said before Slappy had tough fights with far worse fighters than Froch, I can't believe the Slappy fans can be so damn confident of a H2H victory when you consider how good Froch has looked the last few years. Unlike Slappy he's taken risks and been entertaining right down the line too, I can see his iron chin and defiant style giving Slappy huge problems personally.

Listen at the end of the day Calzaghe was just cut above Froch. If they had of fought a few years before Calzaghe retired then it would have been like the Lacy fight. Prime for prime I'd say it's a bit wider than Calzaghe's win over Kessler.
Despite what people say on here, Calzaghe had both an iron jaw and decent pop during his prime. Froch has only scored a knock down against 1 world class fighter with the rest of his top wins being very close. Calzaghe is simply better than anyone Froch has faced and Froch wouldn't have the power to knock him over during his prime.

No because Froch is far better than Lacy...he's more talented, more skilled, and is mentally tougher. That's not to say Froch would beat the man, but he wouldn't get beaten the way Lacy did.
