    That’s fine.

But I’m yet to read a logical breakdown for Canelo having won.

Again, we’ve got nothing to work with.

Because he’s never fought above LHW, and he’s fought nobody with that style and those attributes.

I don't think it will be considered logical because most people here disagree strongly with the outcome.

Anyway I think I have said all I can in this disscusion.

I personally would consider any breakdown.

But we’ve not had any yet.

Most people have either picked the modern fighter, or said that Canelo would win based off of things which aren’t relevant.

I hadn't seen a Dempsey fight for a little while so I took a look at Dempsey vs Carpentier during this discussion. I mean I still have my opinion that boxing has improved since then but Dempsey was definitely ahead of his time in terms of technique and the power he brought. I also noticed there was quite a lot of clinching in that era whenever I see a fight in it a lot more than today.

I mean Greb ****ed him up in sparring who's not a hard hitter apparently and had little technique so there you go.

I can't believe anyone could watch that awful display of 'boxing' and think Canelo in 2025 doesn't smoke that dude.

Boxing is sport were you can't say this and it's a crime. In most other sports people agree that the is a clear visible difference between athletes then and now.

Maybe a better thread would be "Could Canelo survive a bout with Harry Greb " . Ol' Harry is closer in weight to Alvarez is than Dempsey.

Yeah that was kinda my point, Jack Dempsey "lost" to a middleweight who's probably smaller than Canelo, has less technique, power etc without any kind of modern science.

And Canelo lost to an old Welterweight with a 15 pound weight advantage losing 12-0.

Does Dempsey also get the same PEDs as Canelo aswell ? I'm sure Dempsey would be considerably bigger with the "contaminated meat".

Dempsey never "lost" to Greb. Reports of the sparring session in question are varied. No one ever won or lost a recorded fight in a sparring session.

Jesus Christ. A 190 lb man who stopped 240 lb men is going to suddenly lose to Canelo. Jesus.

Boxing may have evolved but so what? Does Canelo beat Joe Bugner too? Or Budy Baer? Its absurd to pretend that a guy who isn't even fighting Benavidez would step into the ring with Dempsey.

Again boxing may evolve but punching power is timeless. Dempsey was a 190 lb guy with the power of a bigger man. Power doesn't magically change. See George Foreman carrying his power in the 90's against a younger generation the same way he did in the 70's.

Dempsey never lost to Greb. Reports of sparring sessions with zero footage can't be seriously considered.

Dempsey would witness the slickness here I'm afraid. Dempsey was terrified to step into during his reign, lest we forget.
