What do you think? I'd give him a very narrow window in which he might get past Paul Pender.

Don't think he'd make 160 without severely weakening himself.

    Canelo is 24 I think?

How many MW fighters, if you could only judge below the age of 24, would you pick to become champions?

He would be unwilling to fight them because they are too big while simultaneously you'd be unable to make weight . I am so thoroughly unimpressed with Alvarez after initially believing he was going to be a breath of fresh air .

He'd be a middling prospect who would eventually be taken to school at around the fringe contender level, then fall off the map into obscurity. There's nothing special about him .

Who would you say is a special MW? And how special were they at age 24?

He would rule 155 with an iron fist, though.

Canelo victorious against Gene Fullmer, Dick Tiger, Joey Giardello, Emile Griffith, Nino Benvenuti? Hell no!! He wouldn't make it past any of these that I've listed...maybe not even Pender. You can't compare any of the second rate pretenders of today that Canelo has beaten with any of the names above.
The only more ridiculous question would be "Would Canelo be likely to win the Middleweight Crown in the 70's?"

Canelo / Monzon? Saul would have to eat lettuce forever to stay at 154 to dodge THAT bullet.

Out of those you listed, how good were they at 24 years old?

If you ignored everything they did after that age would your opinion change?

I don't really see the relevance of your question as it juxtaposes with mine.

Judging active fighters within a historical position is nigh impossible
