Would Carl Froch have faced prime RJJ and co. if he'd been champ in that era?

Love him or hate him Carl has proven time and and again that he is willing to fight anyone and since winning a world title has consistently sought out the biggest challenges.

So with this in mind would he have been able to tempt any if the big name Americans into the ring with him if say he'd have been champ instead of a certain Welshman?

Steve Collins was equally game but couldn't seem to get the fights made.

    Definitely

Carls willingness to fight the best has come from his need to prove himself to the general UK public esp early in his career

He'd def have taken the fight

I wasn't questioning his willing. To clarify I was asking whether or not the American champions of the time would have been willing to fight Froch.

U should reword the title :good

Unfortunately I'd not bet on RJJ being willing to face anyone in their prime once he'd established himself as the star name in world boxing

froch fights anyone anywhere, fights the best he can and fights for the top titles. He knows not the meaning of the word "duck"

    stevie Collins talked the talk.

eubank walked the walk but admitted he didn't want jones.

benn came up short before getting jones.

Watson couldn't walk by the time jones came around.

calzaghe did even worse than the above guys, waiting like a coward till jones was shot2shat and then pretending he was prime.

but froch would face down jones.

Froch would have been treated like Clinton Woods. And that is no disrespect to Froch because I like Froch but look at what Ward did to Froch now think of prime RJJ.

So agreeing that Froch would have done his utmost to get those fights do you think RJJ, Toney or Hopkins would have been willing to take him on?

I think Hopkins is very similar to Froch in that he fights anyone at anytime but ofc, he nvr faught at SMW

    not sure about Toney

    my thoughts

    - are toney would be happy to take it, but in reality was too fat by the time froch turned pro. fantasy wise toney outpoints froch.

    - Hopkins wouldn't because he was at MW and would prefer to stick to setting a record in that division... and he anyway has to date never ever set foot in the ring as a SMW so he was unlikely to with anyone let alone froch, such was his disinterest in making even 1 fight at the weight (though he did talk about once or twice). say at LHW though, prime Hopkins outhustles froch after a late scare.

-jones would take it and destroy froch. but then we are talking the best smw ever by a fair margin.

It depends what he brought to the table.

But if he'd have had a major belt, and he was willing travel to the U.S. (which we know wouldn't have been an issue) then I don't see why not.
