Would Chad Dawson always have had problems with Tommy Karpency?

Karpency and the judges caught Chad at a good moment, with the injury and lower workrate.

Without the left hand issue Chad wouldn't have had any problems with Karpency. I still had Chad winning even with the injury, later in the fight his right hook and jab were doing a solid job.

Chad's history shows his class. Only person to stop Ian Gardner, someone neither Golovkin nor Abraham two bombers were even able to stop. He brutalized Epifanio Mendoza (not great but a tough solid bomber), no need to rehash the Adamek fight. Adamek was supposed to impose his will on Dawson and got mopped and went on to achieve greater things at CW and became a top 10 HW. Glencoffe after losing to Chad 2x still had further success losing close to Froch and Cloud, and giving everyone else hell including Groves. Tarver lost to Chad 2x and went on to have moderate success after the fight. Chad's issues were all mental, this is confirmed by every trainer he has had. Everyone says the same thing once they stopped working with him. This guy has all the physical talent in the world but is aloof and has no focus. Emmanuel Steward even said he could train Chad to be a top 10 heavyweight with his gifts but Chad doesn't really want it.

Forgot Diaconou, There were a lot of people years ago, pre-Pascal losses that said Diaconou would waste Chad and that Chad ducked him, Chad has been horribly underrated throughout his career.

I do many threads that have nothing to do with Calzaghe and the sore haters keep on bringing him up. They need to get over it. 46-0

    Yes.

Never thought that much of Dawson. He was just your standard HBO hype job.

Greetings Hans. Did you see the Cleverly/Karpency fight that seemed a mismatch?

The last impressive performance for me from Dawson was Tarver I. He seemed to go downhill after that. Unimpressed with his performances against Pascal and Hopkins. I think he really should just retire

It be no easy task for Joe either ..I mean Chad being 6'1 to Joe's 5'11 in height reach Joe had a wing span of 73" inches compared to Dawson's 76 " and both were south paws ..It be an interesting fight no easy night for either guy .

    :patsch Ridiculous post.
You forget that Chad lost to 5ft 10 1/2 Pascal with a reach of 72"
You forget how old G Johnson who may have been shorter looked unfortunate to some against Dawson.
Ward at 6ft with a 72" reach beat Dawson.
Karpency at 5'11 1/2 with a 73" reach beat Dawson.

All those fighters were shorter than Dawson

He lost to Pasacal on a cut he had Jean ready to go I always love how people talk as if Pascal was blowing him out the water ..Also that fight was at light heavy who's the best LHW Joe faced Hopkins?

You also forget that Joe pulled out of a fight with Glen Johnson not once ,not twice ,BUT 3 Times ! I wonder why ? Must of been because of his height and age .

Ward is also a pretty good Boxer in his own right Joe is not the same type of boxer as Ward is he fights more on the outside Ward is more of inside fighter ..

And Karpency was gifted a decision no way in hell he won that but again this Chad after 2 back to back KO losses ..The one that beat Hopkins Gives Joe C fits ! You can deny it all you want but lesser fighters have troubled him !
