In this match up of over blown Light-Heavys would Bryd have being to slick for Michael Spinks ?
Both awkward to fight in their own ways ,both with big name wins .
So ..in a 15 rounder who takes it ?

Byrd. I think he filled out to HW better than Spinks and he was a busy, slippery fighter.

Lol ,it certainly wouldn't be Ali -Frazier 1 granted. But we're that used to seeing either man proving so bloody awkward ,that i d be intrigued to see who messes who about the most.

And I can't see Mike hitting hard enough to concern Byrd .I reckon Spinks would for the few times in his career find himself getting frustrated ,and not quite sure how to approach him. Byrd's defensive ,worming style would give Spinks fits ,and he'll be hit a lot more than he s used to.

It would be interesting either way. I don't see either guy scoring a knockout. The judges scorecards would be very interesting. I want to pick Byrd mainly because he's a southpaw, but Spinks did beat Marvin Johnson who was a lot smaller than Byrd, but ironically hit a lot harder.

I don't see a ko either .But I see Spinks doing his damn hardest to score one ,Byrd would have that effect .

I think Byrd to busy , slick and quick, would dec. Spinks. But I could also see Spinks KOing Chris with a straight right, Mike had power, knocked the crap out of Cooney

I’ll take Spinks to win a decision, Byrd loved fighting the bigger slower Heavyweights so he could lay back looking to counter punch them and then beat them to death with his fast pitty pat combos.

Spinks usually made you fight his fight. His awkwardness and lack of what looks like a traditional boxing rhythm would always keep you guessing, whether he’s doing his version of the Walcott waltz, or dropping right hands on you, or springing in with hooks, or triple or even quadruple jabbing you right in your face while sliding over and avoiding counters, he was usually effective.

Byrd had his hands full and one of his tougher fights with former Cruiserweight Arthur Williams early in his career. He was bothered by his jab and even dropped by his strait right.. Smaller guys were tougher outs for him.

I’ll take Spinks on points, he can pretty much match Byrd’s speed and is better conditioned, not that Byrd is out of shape I just think Spinks had an amazing motor and was better than Byrd. I’ll say Decision win, but if Chris makes a mistake and Michael lands his best right, Chris may fall victim to “The Jinx”

Byrd is being overrated here. The 1985 spinks beats the best version of bryd very clearly. Bonecrusher gave a great analysis

I think spinks is just in a much higher class a fighter.

Spinks had trouble with mobile boxers ( watch Eddie Davis fight at LHW ) . Byrd at hw too slick and would win on pts. Footnote. Both Spinks and Byrd fought in Olympic's at MW.

I thinks Spinks would be too cute for Byrd. Chris utilized his speed advantage quite well against heavier, slower types. That ain't happening here.
