No I think Kessler would have beaten him.

So guys like Dan Sherry, Ray Close, Mauricio Amaral and Dan Schommer could give Eubank problems but Mikkel Kessler couldn't? :huh

    Yes.
But you see, they all couldn't smirk like Chris. ;)

Kessler and Hopkin's for sure would have beat him. RJJ might well have defeated him, and quite a few more would have earned deserved decisions against him.

Eubank's tends to be a bit overrated by many on this site. This is because he managed to go the distance with Calzaghe, and because, despite his being only 29 at the time, people falsely claim he was old for the Cal fight.

Sherry ran like a rabbit, Close gave him no problems (Eubank gave himself problems with lack of workrate), Amaral stayed out of range a lot and Eubank again lacked workrate due to his schedule, and Dan Schommer was an awkward southpaw.

    Your logic is absurd.

Pretty much impossible if Eubank was remotely near his best.

Not even worth a proper reply.

Eubank at his best definitely stops Calzaghe, clear as day to many.

He was older than that wasn't he? I'll have to check. I think he was 31/32. But the point is, he'd got a lot of miles on the clock. Some fighters age quicker than others. Ali was a very old 32 year old against Foreman. Ring age and age are totally different. Some fighters are spent before they even get to 30. That was a good win by Joe, but Joe was 25, and Eubank in my opinion was old and faded, and he retired just two fights later after the CW fights against Carl Thompson in 98. He'd also taken the fight with Joe at 11 days notice. He was preparing to fight at 175, and was then told that he had the opportunity of fighting a young southpaw at 168, because Collins had pulled out. So it wasn't ideal preparation at that stage of his career.

That was far from the Watson that gave Chris hell. Watson was rusty against McCallum, struggling with weight and struggling to breath through a damaged nose. He improved a lot between the McCallum and Eubank I fights, and improved even far further between the Eubank I and Eubank II fights, in which he gave Chris hell (II) before being punched into a coma by Chris.

Eubank retired in '95 after the Collins fights, before coming back a year later in the Middle East.

He hasn't officially announced a retirement since the Thompson fights!

Eubank reported knee troubles on the ITV end-of-year boxing show for '92 and gave himself 18 months at that time to fight everyone (Toney and Nunn were on his hitlist!) while he could... come ''96-'97 his knees were severely ****ed and he had to change his style, going toe-to-toe with Calzaghe (and Collins and Thompson).

I believe the SKY TV deal was the killing of Eubank - he was offered £10million ($20million in '94 - equiv of 60k today?) to fight every seven weeks for 11 months.

Yeah, I know he had a break. I watched that video that you uploaded last week from either Egypt or Dubai.

That deal with Sky was certainly demanding, although I'm sure he was happy to sign it.

It's safe to say, that he had an old ring age with many miles on the clock by the time he fought Joe.

Eubank at his best knocks out Ray Robinson, decisions Hagler and then rapes Monzon.

He then gains 30 pounds and outpoints Cassius Clay before knocking out Joe Louis.
