Of course he didnt do it with Tunney as he was yrs past his prime! Tunney could also punch. Conn couldnt. Greb was sparring period. Every great fighter has looked bad in sparring at one time or another. It's just a matter of time befor he catches Conn and knocks him out. When discussing these types of matches are we assuming its prime for prime unless specifically stated otherwise?

Tunney had some power.Dempsey was 3 years away from his prime.Sparring doesn't mean that much to me,I don't think its indicative as to how a real fight over a longer distance goes.

The 1921 Dempsey was coming off a less than overwhelming effort against the lackluster Bill Brennan, a guy Conn could beat in his sleep.

I see Billy giving Jack fits for a while and having maybe a 40% of seeing the finish line, which if he does, he wins. Otherwise, I favor Dempsey. As mentioned above, refereeing would have a huge influence. If roommate Jack Dougherty is officiating, all bets are off and Dempsey gets away with whatever he pleases.

Let's be honest, if they were both active today, we would all be clamoring for the fight to be made.
