...the same strategy as Mosley last night?

Mosley went to the body, clinched after landing big shots and did everything he could to keep the fight in the middle of the ring.

you think Cotto couldve managed the same performance without gassing out or giving up to Tony's pressure?

oh and lets not bring up anything about the hand wrap issue. Mosley states himself that its probably a misunderstanding so lets keep it at that until its proven that Margos camp were intending on cheating and have possibly done it before.

It's possible, but Shane is stronger than Cotto, and I think that was a big factor.

But yes, if Cotto can sucessfully employ similar tactics, he can outbox Margo cleanly.

cotto is not as fast as sugar shane in throwing those looping right hands

after shane throws, he gets out of target (partly due to the strong punch which takes tony out of balance, partly bec. shane is quick). that's why margarito was ineffective (he usually punch after being punched).

Can cotto do the same?? i doubt.

The clinch is a better strategy, he could do that. but i doubt it will be effective all night long

No. Cotto isn't as quick and his endurance isn't as good. His chin wouldn't be able to hold up as long either. Cotto had to box and move that night. The only thing that can help in a rematch is better conditioning down the stretch.

    Yes!!!!!!!!! :deal

Oh my bad I didn't fully read the thread. I just assumed it was another "plaster" thread. But my answer is still yes. Cotto was throwing an effective jab in the early rounds but wasn't throwing the straight right behind the jab often enough. Cotto also should have fought more in the center of the ring instead of resetting him self along the ropes after every flurry. Cotto also should have taken the fight to Margo at times when Margo wasn't throwing to reverse the pressure. Just like Mosely learned from Cotto on how not to fight Margo, I think Cotto will learn from Mosley on how to fight him and would prevail in a rematch.

Of course....the only time he was getting hurt was when he leaned on the ropes....who did Cotto think he was Benitez?
Got me mad everytime I saw him on the ropes.....rematch Cotto wins.

Misunderstanding on the wraps.....of course it was a misunderstanding....
good thing for Nazim's keen eye.

thats what im thinking about this. its Cottos stamina that really comes into question for me on this.

Cotto was doing fine in their fight until he seemed to gas out as the fight went on and that allowed Margo to catch him more often making it all worse for Miguel.

so yeah i say no on this too.

Whoever doesnt think he can is a fool. Cotto was doing very well for himself in the middle of the ring and his jab was knocking Margo's head back. The mistake he made was not tying Margo up when he got close. Shane did it perfectly whenever margo tried to unleash. He also stood away from the ropes to keep Margo from leaning on him while he banged to the body. Cotto can win the reamtch for sure.

He doesnt have to copy Mosley, he is not as fast nor does he throw the same type of right hand. But he can clinch to avoid being pounded on. And stay the hell away from the ropes.

Yes he can certainly beat Margo. He needs to stay in the middle of the ring and tie up Margo. He migh not stop him but he would win a comfortable decision.

He'd have won if his trainer had caught the plaster.

Cotto is not as resilient as Mosley and i feel loses to Marg 10/10.
