After this weeks tradegic loss of Valero and his wife we'll never know how the undefeated KO artist would do against the best of his time. Hardly the biggest loss of the week, but it does pose questions. Valero finnished undefeated having ko'd every man he'd ever faced. He ko'd his first 18 opponents and only had 20 rounds under his belt when he won his first title He is known for his power and being a physical beast but his speed is excellent and boxing skills are underrated. His shot picking, abiltiy to throw the correct shot at any range and . His defense isnt great, hands down but using his feet to glide in and out of punching distance showed plenty of skill. His stamina and chin, were certainly proven in his first title win against Mosquera He was Morales sparring partner prior to Morales beating Pacman and seemed to give Morales a big of beating. Although only sparring its still an indication of ability as they seemed to be working hard The main question marks over a defensively open fighter like Valero is how he would do against other big punchers and fast slick boxers. Mosquera was quite a fast slick boxer mover though and Valero largely dominated I'm not sure I'd pick him over Pacman, but it would be a war and he certainly has a chance. I thought Pacman may defend his 140lb ring title against Valero as valero was moving up and it had been talked about. Valero may well have pulled the shock win, he certainly has the power to do so In a world where he gets a shot against past prime Morales and Barrera he may well replicate what Pacman did. I certainly see him dominanting and ko'ing the likes of David Diaz and Ricky Hatton if he fought them Due to failing MRI scans he couldnt get licensed in the US, limiting his opportunity to big fights. He was abysmal, the Mosquera fight shows how sloppy he was and how overrated his power was. He was a K.O waiting to happen, the likes of Soto/Funeka woulda battered him, let alone Marquez/Pac.
He not only showed he could punch but overcame adversity of a bad cut vs Demarco. I had seen Demarco fight before and was impressed with him, thus impressed with Valero's win. With a good finishing trainer he had a good chance to go on to greatness but at that point in time still had his best fights in front of him.
It's like sayin': All things bein' equal, or IF the queen had balls she'd be the king. Life is what it is. A fighter's gotta prove it in the ring -- no excuses. You could fill a book with the sad tales of why some can't-miss comet flamed out. Valero had self-destruct written all over him.
He was there to be hit, but his speed and ability to counter means his open defense is almost a trap. As for Soto battering him Soto You have to be having a laugh, Funeka I give a chance to beat him because Funeka is a stylistic nightmare for most men with his height. JMM and Pacman may well have beat him, I wouldn't hold that against him As for his power being fraudulant. No chance, I think its somewhat overrated, his accuracy and boxing skill is underrated. He was certainly no Julian Jackson, but you dont stop all those me men, some durable 1s, without being a puncher. Hes also pretty relentless and accurate with what he did
Here he is sparring Morales, I think this is the 1 with the sound effects [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X83fqJ1GXA&feature=PlayList&p=129F9FB232E2D9CE&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=6[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-EaEgnoXtU&feature=related[/ame]
