Would current big daddy 280 lbs version Fury have stopped 2015 Klitschko?

Wlad was a counterpuncher who was accustomed to harder punchers than Fury (and men the same size as Fury, in some cases) trying to come after him.

 

Wlad Fury was best Fury. Wilder 3 Fury would have been too slow and sloppy. Even though Fury Wlad was the worst Wlad I think he'd bounce that Fury off the canvas like a rubber ball.

 

No, he'd have been KOed. That's probably how Wlad hoped he'd fight him.

 

Different styles needed for different fighters.

Wlad was smarter then Wilder and wouldn’t fall for as many traps as he did. Fury beat Wlad at his own game and negated his weaponry.

 

It was so frustrating watching Wlad, who I think is all around the superior fighter, being too timid to engage, and too dumb to adapt. It was like the first six rounds of Lomachenko vs Lopez but longer. Wlad went in there with the same game plan he fought everyone else with the last ten years and when it wasn't working he didn't have a plan B. The young Wlad had a lot more tools in his toolbox and would have taken Fury apart, but the old version was completely befuddled. The young Wlad had a lot more variety to his game but was more likely to get knocked out making a mistake. Manny Steward taught him to jab and grab, fight tall and he stopped losing. The problem is that you can't fight tall when your opponent is taller.

 

Wlad would've had a field day landing the straight right which is a lot faster and less telegraphed than Wilder's straight. He stops Fury.

 

Nah. Fury would have his right hand parried all night. He might be able to KO Wladimir but he would probably have to find another method than the 1-2 because Wladimir isn't that easy it hit.

 

Wlad should be thankful he never got his rematch. Fury would've wrecked him in Manchester, with no house referee to worry about.

That's a misapprehension. Wlad counterpunched on occasion, like any fighter will counterpunch on occasion, but it wasn't his bread and butter. He thrived on keeping you at bay and getting off first. An aggressive Fury is toxic for Klitschko.

Fury had the boxing/moving plan at that time, if he went at the overly cautious Wlad at that time, he would've got him out. That was a disgraceful effort from the reigning champ, Fury should've done more too.

 

Vlad does much, much better against an aggressive Fury. He's strong enough to handle himself on the inside, though he lacks some skill there, has great stamina, and would land big left hooks as Fury approaches. When Fury is aggressive his opponents WILL land jabs, which, against Vlad is extremely dangerous.

 

You do realize Fury isn't going to fight everyone the same way right? He fought this specific way because It was the best strategy to defeat Wilder

 

Nah. Wlad is much stronger in the clinch. Wilder is kind of weak and skinny. Fury manhandled him in the clinch. Wlad would have done much much better there. Fury didn't respect Wilders clinch game while he was clearly respecting Wlad in the clinch. I think the game plan Fury executed against Wlad was nearly perfect. And he also executed a perfect game plan against Wilder in the second fight. He was also executing the perfect game plan in the third fight but like in the first fight he was a bit too sloppy in some moments and Wilder caught him with a good shot. Fury is one of the most intelligent fighters in the game. He knows what to do in different situations/matchups and he always has a very good game plan. The reason behind is that he can fight different styles. He can stick & move like in the Wlad fight or against Wilder I. But he can also fight you dirty in the clinch and in close range mixing it up with some attacks. That's the reason why i think he beats Usyk. He would figh Usyk in a different way, he would take advantage of his size, height and reach against Usyk and Usyk struggled in the past against guys who have decent distance control and very good counters + slipping punches (Briedis, Hunter).

 

Wlad would have to open up more like did vs Joshua to give Fury the openings. I think a rematch in 16 would have been more of a dog fight but we'll never know. Fury has added to his game since 15 although I still say that was his best shape.
