Given the huge range of opinions about Calzaghe's contribution to boxing and his standing in the sport, how would the legions of Calzaghe detractors value a possible victory by Chad Dawson if they fought before he retired?

no. joe is shot and too small to fight at LHW against a guy who aims to fight at HW one day. he also doesn't have fwank with him anymore so he can't pay off the judges. new plans drawn up by the bodies of the sport will outlaw his punching style in the next few weeks. he's a rubbish fighter and a homosexual.

is this a serious question though?

calzaghe is quite possibly the biggest scalp in the sport. this place would crash if he lost and anyone who beats him deserves a shitload of credit.

Dawson would be hailed as the second coming by those who would then also turn around and claim calzaghe was exposed and a bum. The best part would be that these fanboys and haters wouldn't understand their own contradictions.

That's a great post. I don't agree but it's a great one all the same.

To beat the #1 p4p boxer would of course be great. Joe not in his prime, but he was not in it when he beat hopkins. Now is it a close victory, or pretty oneside, alot matters how the victory looks,,,,,,but a win against joe would be great on anybody resume

Who cares ? Lets argue the price of milk shall we ?

Calzaghe is one of 4 elite fighters currently. Himself Pac JMM and Bhop.

    Then theres the rest.

By elite I mean they could be succesfull in any era. Arguing over who's #1 and whos #3 is nonsense. Their all great.

Love it when people argue about P4P ratings in factual terms.

    "Calzaghe is number one P4P"
"No he's not, Pacquiao is, Calzaghe is two"
    "He's number three"
"Calzaghe has never been number one"

Which part of personal subjective ranking do you people struggle with?
