Would De La Hoya have stood up to Pac's final left hand on Hatton?

IMO, Aside from Pacquiao's power and precision, Hatton got KTFO because he didn't saw Pacquiao's punch. The most effective punch in boxing IMO, the punch that you don't think that will hit you. You're brain will definitely be shocked and go down if you're hit by something that you didn't see. :bbb

Exactly. Pacquiao had many rounds against the skeleton of De La Hoya to land a bomb and put De La Hoya to sleep. The fact that the weight drained De La Hoya was never quite put out speaks volumes.

 

only Roberto Duran would have and could have taken Pac's wonderland shot.

Seriously, nobody walks away from a shot like that. You put one of the klits on their knees and have Pac take a shot on them. BOOOOOMM

 

ROUNDS 5-8 Hoya was just leaning on the ropes and the corner with his hands up. It's was definitely not easy to land a haymaker against Hoya in that position. But if you didn't notice Hoya was already wobbling at the during the late 7th round. Hoya would've been KOd if he came out after the 8th. He knew it and quit.

 

He just took a fight 2 weeks ago at the Orleans. Even though he's old..VERY EXCITING FIGHTER!!:good

BLA BLA Bla we all know that. The question was if oscar would have been knocked out,this thread is kinda foolish because anybody gets caught like that they are gonna fall! Going down doesnt mean you have a bad chin, its all about if you can get up and shake it off,and Oscars has taken shots from harder punchers Hopkins,Vargas,Mosley,Campas,Tito(na i shouldnt count him cuz he never hit Oscar) and Gatti and an Old Chavez were probably on par with Pacmans power.

Just had to say that, and i ansered it earlier. Go back and CHECK OUT the thread you put out, and youll see what i had to say.

 

There is one difference with the punches that Hoya took from Mosley and the punch that Hatton took for Pacquiao, and that it precision. The punches that Mosley landed on Hoya was on the cheek. Pacquiao landed his hook perfectly on Hatton's jaw. Not to mention that Pacquiao's left hook on Hatton was stronger because it was a counter.

IF Manny landed that punch on Oscar, it COULD have knocked him down but not out...I think Oscar would have gotten up from that...but I honestly don't think Manny would have landed that kind of shot on Oscar anyways because that's not how he boxes and his chin is always tucked down to minimize the punch effect...

Btw, to the poster that said manny's punch would have kd Tyson.....cmon, get real!!! The punch was nice and devastating against Hatton...But against Tyson? That's a bit stretched...I'm sure when cotton said they, he was exaggerating quite a bit.

 

He ate many of those punches all night. One thing people fail to give credit to DLH for, which I can't understand, is his ability to take a punch. Hatton got KO'd by Mayweather who isn't a KO puncher and wobbled by the likes of ancient Lazcano. Hatton is known to be stunned here and there but always comes back, no one was able to COMPLETELY overpower him like Pac did, not even the slightly bigger Mayweather. If you notice properly against Hatton, Pac actually looked slightly BIGGER in size which was amazing how quick his body was getting used to that weight category.

DLH has an iron chin and he took similar punches to those against Pac since the opening bell, a punch rocked him in the first but he kept coming. DLH has taken punches from the likes of Hopkins(at middleweight), Vargas, Mayorga, Trinidad, Mosley, Castillejo(yes the same one that knocked Sturm out at middleweight), Quartey, Chavez Sr. and many others.

 

Even Miguel Cotto acknowldge that that shot could knock out Mike Tyson.
