Would dmitry bivol be a bad matchup for Joe Louis

Bivol would be better than a good amount of the "bum of the month" club level guys and he'll most likely have some moments in the fight. He still loses though.

 

Louis averaged about 202lbs, at weigh in, at his best, which would be around 205lbs by the time he got in the ring (I'm a similar weight and typically weigh c.3lbs more in the evening than the morning).

Bivol claims here - https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/11/dmitry-bivol-interested-in-moving-down-to-168/ - that 185lbs is the highest he's weighed on fight night. He claimed he was 183lbs in the ring vs Canelo, which, iirc, is in line with his previous documented fight night weights.

Bivol is a terrific fighter but in my opinion he was on his way to losing to a forty year old Beterbiev until he started to fad ... I dont see him surviving a prime Louis ...

Some fighters are better at HW then LHW and MW like Miske. Since no one from MW and LHW go to HW we can only guess who these people are because we'll never know. Miske couldn't beat Norfolk and lost most of his big LHW fights but at HW he knocked out Fulton and gave Dempsey a tough fight in their first fight.

Besides Louis Conn is otherwise undefeated at HW. Conn is 14-2 at HW so his resume is 2 Usyks long. And I've been told Usyks resume is "fabulous" and he has "nothing left to prove". So surely the same is true of Conn. Conn beat 4 Louis title opponents thats more than enough. Conn beat the customary 13 loss gatekeeper as well.

Conn is one of many Louis number one contenders who retired in their 20s and/or shortly after fighting Louis.

All that aside I'm not a believer in Bivol at HW and don't think hes one of these people. And even if he was competing with Louis is a different thing all together.

 

Honestly Beterbiev sometimes reminds me of Louis in terms of style and I think the fight goes similarly to Bivol-Beterbiev 1, only if Beterbiev was 20+ lbs bigger...

Bivol is a quality boxer but he struggled to keep an old Beterbiev off him, I don't think he'd be able to keep Louis off him for 15 rounds.

 

Congrats man, this is first completely unanimous poll I've ever seen here. Never before has a premise been so bad that it was a complete shut out two years later. 31-0

As for the fight, Bivol does well, until he doesn't and a right hand shadow realms him.
