Duran beats Curry by lopsided decision in my opinion. 'Hands of Stone' of Montreal '80 simply has too much for the 'Lone Star Cobra' Even though Curry ranks higher on an all time welterweight list than Duran. Obviously Duran's much higher P4P
If Duran was a hammer, he'd a hammer in the moorrrrnnning. He'd ahammer in the evening, all over this lannnd.
Curry would give a good account of himself, he could be quite sharp in close if need be and at his 147 best handled pressure well. Duran would be too much in the end but he'd ship some early.
It’s certainly plausible. Duran handled Sugar Ray and Carlos Palamino at welter. If curry wasn’t struggling with keeping his weight down and came in at top form it could be a great fight.
If Duran came in ferocious and in that frame of mind he had with Sugar Ray, then Curry s truly got a battle on his hands. Curry could find himself struggling just to survive.
Duran by mid-rounds stoppage. Too powerful and fluid and unpredictable in his attack. Curry would be fine if Duran stood in front of him all night but he would dart in, maul, hammer, slip, counter, push, shove, and start again. You can't develop any kind of rhythm against Duran and that's the biggest issue.
A long time ago in the early 70's I saw a video of Duran skipping rope , bouncing on his right leg in a crouch with his left leg stuck out and the jump rope whizzing around him . It was absolutely astonishing
The late Trini Lopez who was in the motion picture, The Dirty Dozen from 1967, sang that tune, was a big hit for him. If I Had A Hammer.
