DougLas pretty much owned Tyson the whole fight.
Everyone says he took Douglas light, but Tyson looked ready to go to me
Assuming they both show up in shape

No, because as a wise poster once said, Buster did not have any fundamentals or Kevin Rooney in his corner although Douglas won, you cannot lose your prime at 23 years of age, unless you are Benjamin Button.

Yeah, Douglas just fought a hell of a fight.
Tyson wasn't invincible - which, at the time, shocked a lot of people.
Buster was a much better fighter than people gave him credit for at the time. He'd been improving a lot over the previous 4 or 5 years actually. A very seasoned and serious professional at the time he faced Tyson.

Maybe early but the 1987 Tyson stops him in 2 rounds I think.

That version of Douglas would have been a problem for many boxers, I think. He looked super sharp and determined. Sure, maybe Tyson had started slipping a little, but I think that version of Douglas is problematic for any version of Tyson.

I’ve said for years, that was the longest 10 count I’ve ever seen when Tyson knocked down Douglas...if you time it with a stopwatch it comes out to about 15 seconds

Tyson was given exactly the same type of count in the 10th but was done

I'll do you one better, should Douglas show up like that, he beats any Tyson.

Oh please the count gets longer and longer every time it’s brought up. At most it was 12 seconds, but either way he was clearly waiting the count out while Tyson was struggling to get up. Douglas could’ve gotten up sooner if he really wanted to, Tyson couldn’t

I'd take an earlier version of Tyson but the pluck and skills Douglas showed makes it tough at the very least.

An in shape motivated Douglas would be a problem for most heavyweights. As for Tyson, a tall rangy fighter with a wicked jab, fluid combinations & good movement would've been Tyson's worst nightmare I would've thought.

As long as Buster kept that left jab in Tyson's face and kept throwing right bombs from the outside.

The version of Douglas which beat Tyson would've always have beaten him, he was never going to quit, he had a great jab and would time mike with the right as he came in and then beat him at his own game (fight him on the inside) and was stronger than him and was more illusive in the pocket and was blocking and countering well and would also force him back and tire him, he fought the perfect fight to beat Tyson

If Tyson had given it 100%, it would have ended up being one of those near misses, that all great fighters have.

    Think Louis Conn I.

We would be talking about how Douglas almost pulled off the impossible.
