Would Floyd be more active if Pac weren't around?

I still don't think he will fight Cotto, Margarito, Paul Williams or Martinez.

He never showed any inclination towards fighting them when they were prime and at lower weights. I doubt that he will fight them when they are near or at midlleweights.

While Floyd may crave the spotlight, he's been fulfilling that need in other ways for several years now. He just hasn't been all that interested in only being a fighter anymore and it started before Pac became his "apparent" nemesis.

He took about a year off and came back in '09. It's been two years and he still hasn't fought Pacquiao. Money is the reason he came back as his passion for the sport is long gone. I am a fan of the fighter in the ringbut it's been a love/hate relationship as he's so damn inactive and is not getting any younger, he's 32 and time is ticking.

Pac has destroyed all the big names in 147. Any potential lucrative fights with Cotto, Hatton rematch and Oscar rematch went down the drain when Pac arrived at the scene.

The only fight that matters for Floyd at 147 is Pac, and at 154-160 only Maravilla Martinez makes sense. Floyd won´t fight neither, and the rest (Berto, Ortiz) don´t bring anything ($$$) to the table.

I think its the opposite. Floyd would probably be officially retired. The presence of Pacquiao pressures him to be active. On the other hand though, If Pacquiao wasn't around there would be more people to fight. Floyd probably would have fought Cotto and the like.

34? Damn I do favor Pacquiao if they were to fight this year but I doubt the fight gets made. His money problems did bring him back but I guess even they don't mean anything if he has no "urge" to face Pacquiao.

Yes he would be more active if Pac, Cotto ,Margo , and Shane werent around (while they were at their best).

If Floyd can make an easy payday he'll do it. Otherwise he'll take a vacation and wait for the heat to go away.

No. He would pop up to fight the guy who proved himself to be the best like he has always done as of late.

This Pac fight would have been history had Pac not been afraid to test with a 14 day cut off.

So Shane holding a title over Margo by KO wasn't "at his best"?

Yes. Floyd knows that any fight other than with Pac right now would not be accepted by boxing fans.

Agreed, it pays to be the boss,
He will fight when he is ready/wants to fight, and not a second sooner

i dont think so.manny was not on mayweathers radar until he fought oscar.i think mayweather would still only fight 1 or 2 times a year.if it was not manny they wanted him to fight it would have been someone else.with manny in boxing or not mayweather would still be 41-0 to say he would be 45-0 or even 50-0 is crazy.

Floyd was pretty inactive well before Pac went to 147. Actually, floyd started fighting less about the time he started getting the mega purses with Hatton and DLH.

Also the Arum vs GBP beef has a huge influence on the fights. Arum has had on a Top Rank only streak for a while. And Floyd has only fought within GBP for a long while as well. Shane didnt get the Pac fight until he went to Top Rank. Point blank its plain as day that those two have issues matching up their biggest stars.

Floyd wouldnt fight Margo or Cotto, both Top Rank. People said he would never face Mosley but that fight happened and he was the aggressor. He wasnt afraid of margo/cotto, anymore than Pac wasnt afraid of Shane summer 2009 but that fight wasnt happening with Shane in GBP
