Would Floyd beating cotto or canelo for the wbc middleweight title be significant?

I think he would've learned a lot just from the Floyd fight alone, and Lara too.

    Maybe. However that didn't happen.

Some fans judge by "what should have happened," "what would have happened," and "what I personally wanted to have happened."

Sorry, but I don't do any of that.

    Yeah, good points.

Still, I think it's pretty clear that Alvarez wasn't some young green pup incapable of thought like some folks would like to spew endlessly in hopes of changing that narrative.

Can you tell me something he has done differently in the ring since the Floyd fight that would indicate "learning" might have occurred or that he is somehow some different and far superior fighter from 2 years ago? I don't see it. I'm not sure I've ever seen much change or adaption in Canelo. And that goes back even to when he was actually green (ala Matt Hatton days).

Yes, because whether we like it or not, Cotto IS a champion.

However, Mayweather will not win the WBC belt from them, why? Because of Golovkin, either they fight Golovkin and lose it or they vacate... So it is highly unlikely.

I never said those things. I think he was green against elite competition. You can learn a lot in one fight, especially against world class foes never mind against an elite HOF borderline top 100 ATG like Floyd.

What does he do differently now? I would have to go and re-watch his fights since Floyd again to give you an answer to that question. I have a memory like a sieve, even for fights I've seen recently. But I think we would get to see what he's learned since in the rematch should they meet again. FTR, I think Floyd would probably beat him pretty handily again.
