Supposing Mayweather hadn't have popped Ortiz at the end of round 4, do you think the fight was competitive? Or would have remained competitve? What do you think would have happened? I personally think that Mayweather was starting to look quite impressive from 3rd round onwards, Ortiz is a big puncher and could have caught him, but it was looking like Floyd would have got him out of there sonner or later! What do you all reckon?
Ortiz nearly got dropped in the 4th by a combo floyd unleashed, it would have been gatti like. He would have been out of there in 8 rounds.
I picked an early to mid rounds KO for Floyd. Nothing I saw in those 4 rounds made me think it wasn't going to happen. The headbutt just confirmed Ortiz was done mentally and ready to quit.
Ortiz would have been tko'd eventually . But he was starting to have his moments right before the fight was stopped. Too bad it ended the way it did.
didnt floyd do the same thing to mosley? except mosley didnt go down? floyd would have won probably a tko before 10 but ortiz would have landed a few before he went out floyd did nothing wrong as far as the rules go but as far as being a sportsman and a human he was totally wrong what a monumental coward
Yes while mosley was trying to talk to floyd in the ring, floyd punched him twice in the head told him to shut up and fight. scroll to 3.10 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehMQiwxamJI[/ame]
It's hard to say. Because half way through the Mosley and JMM fights, I thought there was a good chance Mayweather would stop them before the end. But he didn't. The exact same could have happened here - Mayweather appearing as though he could stop Ortiz later, but doesn't. Because, to be fair to Ortiz, he did go through far worse in the Berto fight, and he made it to the end. Against Mayweather, he was just being outclassed, not beaten up.
Floyd By K.O By the 8th me thinks. No way Ortiz could keep eating right hands like that! I mean seriously do fighter not work on their defense?
Floyd would have knocked him out sooner or later. Ortiz was a poor champion, with a shaky chin. He quit on maidana and got boxed by Peterson (yeah, the draw was controversial and he put peterson on his ass but still Peterson boxed him well with his average skills). Berto is a hypejob. nuff said
One only had to listen to what floyd said in the first episode of 24/7 regarding this Ortiz match up- "I'm cashing in on another stupid payday"
