Prime Kostya vs prime Floyd would have been some sort of fight.

I give a lot of credit for Hatton. De La Hoya was YEARS after Strum defeated him and BHop knocked him out. At least 4-5 years past his prime. Between 2006 and 2009 the only P4P worthy fighter Floyd fought was Hatton (until 2010 if you consider that Marquez climbed multiple weight classes in 2009 in what was obviously a mismatch). In the meantime, you had Cotto, Margarito, Paul Williams peaking, Pacquiao climbing to welterweight etc. That's the issue.

Cotto would have boosted his resume a lot. Had he fought Margarito he would have been called a bum after, had he fought Pac too soon he would have been called small and then after a couple fights at ww both parties had faults at negotiation. I haven’t been around boxing for decades like some on here but I’ve already seen that a fighters resume will get picked apart no matter what.

Every time Manny even thought about throwing a punch, he got countered with a right hand.

"But he'd do better against a younger, quicker, two-handed Floyd, though!"

Maybe you are right about Margarito, I don't think you are right about Pac. 2009 Mayweather Pac was the fight to be made and many, I would say at least 40-45% of this forum, picked Pacquiao to win. Absolutely zero excuses (for that matter for either side) for not letting that happen. It is a travesty it did not happen.

I think it was a business ploy, Mayweather s right time was 2015 because he got paid 300 million or something like that ludicrous amount. So that is why he let the fight marinate.

As for peeps wanting Pacquiao to win, those same sentiments were on display the night of the fight. I remember Manny talking about how his shoulder hurt in round 3. That's the truth. How well would he do with a good shoulder? It remains to be seen. Maybe a rematch, but you have to remember Floyd won the contest. Floyd in 2015 won but in 2009 wouldn't?

1 cassamayor: he woulda run through the Cuban who was kind of shopwarn and little and fading. He was a dirty southpaw but he was little and already getting old.

2 Freitas: had a habit of folding like a cheap chair

3 Morales: that blood n guts stuff wouldn't work against Mayweather.

    4) Paul Williams: advantage for William s

    5) Margarito: advantage Margarito

6 PAC man 7 Hatton 8 Mosley 9 Cotto. It is so hard to fight where each guy are in the prime at the exact same time that's why we let the fights happen; to see who wins. I think it's a moot point because these are all Was for money may. It wasn't like Floyd himself was a spring chicken

Imo he wins a possible 7 out of 9 bouts.
