Floyd seems to have hand troubles vs guys he has to bang with. And we saw how Clottey hurt his hands on Margs head. Could Floyds little brittle hands hold up vs Margs?
No they would not, which is exactly why I say Margarito beats Floyd, Floyd will get off to a much better start than did Cotto but by the time the 5th and 6th came around he would have used his legs too much and would have been forced to work at a much higher pace than he likes to. This is due to the fact that Tony will just keep comming so you have to throw in order to keep him off of you, once Floyd hits the sixth round his legs will fail him and Tony will close the gap and suddenly that man that looks so un skilled so much like he has no talent will look like Godzilla Floyd knows why he didnt take this fight, we can make all the excuses in the world, but the fact remains and nothing will change that fact, in order to beat Tony, you have to be a BIG South Paw that simple. Floyd is neither big nor a lefty.
Good question and good points made by the posters. I always thought that Floyd would beat Margarito, but you all have enlightened me. Physically and stylistically, this fight would be a nightmare for Mayweather.
To answer the question, I think his hands would hold up. As he would not be putting much steam on his punching. He would fight slightly in a Calzaghe like style, just accumulating points and boxing and not really trying to hurt Margarito. I have never seen floyd tire in a fight, his stamina is off the hook. We can't say that he will tire with any certainty. Margarito would be doing a lot of missing in this fight as well, so maybe he gets tired but probably not he's a beast. This would be a hard fight to score, thats for sure.
Fortonetly for Floyd, he could beat Margarito one-handed, much like Clottey did. (If they were to meet up in the ring, obviously)
