Well, i guess i should listen to a knowledgeable boxingfan as yourself. Look, i'm not here to disrespect any boxer or boxing fan, i was just sharing my opinion, if you dont agree with it it's fine, but would you care explaining yourself at least. Because thats what boxing forums are for, not disrespecting other boxing fans.
My most sincere apology. The word "fool" was used in a playful manner. Did not mean to disrespect. My analysis of this missmatch-up follows: Cotto's workrate and stamina are simply to high for Forbes to withstand. Cotto also has the sharper and quicker Jab and much more pop in his punches... This is not even worth discussing. To put Cotto and Forbes in the same sentence is just... I can't even believe I am actually arguring this...:bart
I am sure he would. He's very fast, is style is difficult. Gomez looked like someone drugged him before sending him out. Paulie went the distance and I think he was more similar to Forbes than anyone else Cotto fought.
Paulie also got a broken jaw, a broken eye socket, and a metal face plate with screws for his bravery! You think forbes could take that kind of punishment?
I would say that too ... but Cotto is 10x's faster than DLH and Forbes ... and his jab is more effective than DLH's ... Forbes wouldve been trying to survive because I doubt that Cotto is going to box this guy ... he's naturally smaller and slower than he is ... DLH wouldn't be able to handle the pace of the fight against Cotto and both would be in survival mode - especially at this point in their careers. Forbes is getting too much credit ... and so is DLH ... I can't imagine this guy going the distance w/ DLH and I seen the fight ... As much as people don't think I like Cotto ... I can't see either of these guys putting up a legit fight against him. He would knockout Forbes because he's too slow and doesn't have the power to hurt him ... he would make DLH not want to exchange
Hell no ... Forbes wouldve been broken down and in survival mode ... I don't think he has the skills to survive and wouldve been knocked out for the first time in his career. Cotto is faster, stronger, and a better boxer than DLH is ... at this point ... Cotto is reaching his prime ... being in the game 8 yrs and is constantly growing as an elitist ... oh and he's only 27 or 28 !! Paulie turned into a human punching bag and he used his boxing skills and hand speed to survive ... Not to mention it was Cotto's first time facing a fast boxer.
Yes, Forbes is underrated as far as defense goes. He doesn't have a chance in hell of winning a fight v.s. Cotto, but he could handle his punishment for 12 rounds. Cotto wins by UD in a 119-109 blowout and Forbes walks away cut up, but still standing (my opinion). I agree he would make a good sparring partner, like someone above said though. Forbes just simply doesn't have the power to seriously hurt Cotto. I still want to see Mayweather/Cotto like a lot of people.
I think anyone in there with Forbes' "I just got the chance of a lifetime" attitue would not go down easily. Forbes has a solid chin. He goofed up his chances once by not making weight, stripped of a title, the guy was not gonna give anyone an easy fight when his whole life and career was on the line. Yeah, that one fight made me admire Paulie. The kid showed some balls the size of Brooklyn Bridge that night.
Apreciate the apology, but it's not that i got offended. My comments are more out of frustration with the many "boxing fans" that only seem to be able to disrecpect and criticize the sport they "love". They create fanaticim towards a specific fighter and lose all sense of logic when analyzing anything related with him. If you said the word fool in a playful way than it's my bad for taking it the wrong way, but like i said, my comments are not only based on your comment but more out to a lot of biased "boxing fans". Hey man, we can agree and disagree, im pretty sure we have more things in common than not, after all, we both love boxing, and the boricua blood flows all thru our veins!!!!artytime anyways, by no means i'm saying Forbes wins, or implying Cotto cant stop him(i know Cotto is a beats:bbb) , all im saying is i think Forbes makes it to the 12 rounds, it's just that, an opinion, could be wrong could be right.
Miguel Cotto was weight drained in that fight and he stopped using his jab halfway through the fight because it seemed like he injured it. You honestly think the Cotto at 147lbs could not KO Forbes from accumulation of punches and SINISTER body shots!!!!
