I think Tyson has a better chance than Liston.

I don't think Liston is mobile enough to beat Tyson and I can also see Tyson beating him to the punch which is one of the keys to boxing.

Thats how I see it too. Tyson was in a class higher than Liston, and if it came down to who could hurt the other more regardless of skill, then its hands down Tyson.

I don't think George would blast out Tyson in the first couple of rounds, but the inevitable outcome of the fight would emerge very quickly, as Foreman immediately dominates Mike physically, shoving him back and all over the place, wiping out any chance for Tyson to get set. Each of them were mid range punchers, a situation which clearly favors George.

Mike did not have the firepower to hurt Foreman, anymore than he did Green, Tucker or Smith. Just getting past George's arms to come close enough to hit him would itself pose a major obstacle. But no, Tyson had a good enough chin to get him past the first couple of rounds. This one might look a good deal more like Foreman/Frazier II.

Of course Patterson was Mike's stylistic template. Floyd had a little opening round success getting under Sonny's shots, and Tyson took a much better punch. I think he'd last longer with Liston than Foreman, but the ultimate result would never be in doubt.

Foreman has a good shot against even the best Tyson. 60/40

Tyson tears apart the old slow bear in 4 or 5 rounds. Liston looks a lot more ordinary than the titan many around here purport him to be.

 And George looks special? Liston is far superior technically.

I like Foremans heart in there but as far as Liston I would not be so sure, Tyson was a 6 rd fire

Spinks-Was a Light Heavy that was nowhere near great. A good fighter at 175 but that's it.

Larry Holmes- Old as hell, out of shape, coming in after 2 years off.

Tyson fought Holyfield when both were in their primes...Tyson lost 2x.

Tyson fought Lewis and Lewis was the older man. Tyson was destroyed with ease by Lewis.

Tyson was never a great fighter, he was just great at crushing bums, fat club fighters, light heavyweights and average fighters. Tyson was exposed in 1999 and it's now 2008....amazing that some people think the guy was some kind of great champion.

Did you see what Foreman did to Smokin Joe' twice!!! Tyson would not last 3 rounds with a 1973 George Foreman!

    Speed kills.

Neither Liston nor Foreman had quick hands, and Tyson beat guys with much faster hands to the punch again and again. His excellent countering skills would be a major factor too.

Peak Tyson showed great stamina, unlike the Tyson who faced lewis and Holyfield. Neither Liston or Foreman were known for there stamina anyone who says they would wear Tyson down in the later rounds has got it wrong, Tyson would be stronger Tyson survives the first couple of rounds and goes on to record resounding victories this how great swarming fighters like Dempsey, Marciano and Frazier work.
