Would Frazier have beaten Ali in their third fight if his eye never swollen?

I've even seen people on here suggest if Terrell hadn't had his eyes swollen by Ali, it would've been a much different fight.
    So ****ing weird.

If it had gone to the 15th round Joe would’ve gotten stopped or would’ve taken a 10 count. There’s a part of me that would have liked to seen that to settle matters once and for all but there’s a bigger side of me that is glad that didn’t happen because Joe didn’t deserve that.

I highly highly doubt Frazier would’ve taken a ten count. Foreman couldn’t even do that. Add to that, Ali was utterly exhausted himself. I doubt he would’ve been able to muster the energy required for a stoppage.

By sheer will and his hatred of Ali alone, Joe would’ve never allowed himself to get dropped or stopped by him.

Anybody that will have a close fight with Ali... Ali probably wins. Forget tactics and techniques... some guys are just winners... Ali was just a winner. He was going to find a way to win no matter what.

If Lewis didn't beat Vitali to a pulp he would have lost. If Wilder didn't knock Ortiz out he would have lost. If Tyson only banged 4 not 9 Japanese hookers and sniffed a gram of cocaine instead 3 the night before he fought Buster, he would have won.

I like this alternate reality. It's fun.

Maybe so, but I don't know how he mustered the energy to knock Joe's mouthpiece into the cheap seats in the 13th round.

I just think Eddie Futch was wise to do what he did because heart and willpower and hatred of Ali aside, IMO Joe was in danger of really getting hurt if Ali had anything in the 15th round.

I don't think Frazier would have won.. Frazier's damaged eye was the reason Ali stopped him. Joe put everything he had on Ali up to round 11.
Ali had the versatility to pick his spots. Rest every round some. Frazier was fighting 3 minutes a round. Never let up, attack all the way. He had to.

When the bell rang for the 12th Frazier had no zip. In that extreme heat Ali had the ability to manage it. Therefore he had more left at the finish.

Yeah, his corner had to pull him against Holmes when he had zero chances of winning, but he would quit and surrender his title to his fiercest rival just three minutes from winning? I can't see that.

Referee Carlos Padilla stated on camera exactly what would've happened. He was going to give Frazier about 45 seconds to rally before stopping the fight. We can pretty well extrapolate that Joe wasn't going to be able to rally. At the end of round 14, Padilla escorted Frazier all the way to his corner and Futch. In Manila and with Foreman II, Eddie did exactly what a great cornerman should do in sparing a great heavyweight who never said die that indignity.

Folks on here all the time say the reason Ali beat Foreman in Zaire is because Muhammad "got in George's head".

George deflecting seemingly hundreds of Ali's punches with his face makes me think Muhammad would have won even on George's best, most perfect day.
