Kessler was a HUGE favorite, yet some people were not he'd be able to cope with Ward's speed. this time I've not heard anyone who thinks Green can win. Would Green winning be a bigger upset?
Ward was a dark horse - no one had seen him perform against top opposition before, so it was hard to asess his skill. Green has fought at the top (at the time anyways) level and has not impressed at all.
pretty much sums it up. ward was unknown but you could see quality in his fights previously and kessler was looking a LITTLE off in his previous fight. green looks like ****, has always looked like **** and is still riding his whole career off the codrington win
ward beating kessler, and he did it convincingly (forget the 'controversy', ward won that fight handily), was the bigger upset if green does win. but green winning after ward beat kessler seems more unlikely now because people suddenly see ward in a new light.
I want to say that Kessler was only like a 2:1 favorite while Ward is around a 6:1 favorite over Green. I personally thought the Kessler-Ward fight was 50/50 but I give Green almost no chance in this fight.
I think that people are underestimating Green. I agree with the general consensus that he has looked very average at times, however I choose to believe that his power and above average hand speed will surprise Ward. I think that a focused Green knocks out Ward.
In my mind, yes. Kessler looked like absolute **** in that tuneup before the Ward fight. I knew he was finished after watching that fight. 2007 was definitely his apex. I don't think much of Green at all. I don't expect him to win a round in this fight.
I want to believe that Green wins this one, but that is mostly because he comes across as a likeable fellow. He seem very level headed and collected. I haven't seen enough of Green's fights to realistically call this one though logic dictates a Ward win.
You know, making predictions in this sport can be a hard thing to do, but this prediction was easy as hell. You can't miss with this one.
