Joan Guzman, one of the greatest waste of talent in the history of boxing.

Right now Juan Manuel Marquez is consensus P4P no.4, yet I seriously believe that Guzman would beat him. Closer at 135 and definitely at 140.
Yet, as it stands, Guzman is not even in most people's top 40 fighters. That an incredible irony.

So here is a poll, to try to settle this question: Would Guzman beat Marquez if they met, let's say at 140.

And please comment as to who you feel would clearly beat Joan at 135-147.

I have only two fighters: Pac and Floyd.

Guzman has never fought at 140 even for 140 fights LOL. I think Marquez would beat him and I also think guzman doesn't have it anymore. He's more like judah IMO. He's washed up due to inactivity and lack of discipline during that inactivity. Wish he would have progressed in his career like he should have. His work ethic is disgusting considering that he had as much talent as anyone with a chin to match. I don't think he ever touched his prime and let it go by.

Stylistically it's a tough one to call. I don't think they can hurt eachother and the fight would end up being a war if it even made it to an actual fight due to guzman's lack of desire to even come close to making weight.

If it was at lightweight at Guzman weighed 143 3/4, he may earn a draw.

Guzman will never get a match with anyone important again until he picks a weight class and actually makes said weight a few times. That said, while he presents a difficult matchup he has never really been in there with anyone of Marquez's class, Soto being the closest to that(and not really that close there), so he would probably provide Marquez with some awkward moments early but Marquez would figure out his style soon enough and work him with combinations to a decision win. In terms of who could beat him from 135 to 147, I'd say JMM, Khan, Bradley, and a lot of guys at 147. I don't see him competing at Welter effectively, he'd be at a severe size disadvantage and doesn't have any real power at 140 already.

I think Guzman would give Marquez a hard time but Marquez finds a way to stop him

And how is an undefeated 2 weight champ a waste of talent or the "biggest waste of talent in the history of boxing"

  13. Guzman ran his way to a win over Soto... He would try to do the same to Marquez, but I think Marquez would catch his outta shape ass and TKO him late.

As far as Guzman being the biggest waste of talent in the entire long history of the sport of boxing... not even close to true. He was never that good to begin with, his most notable victory is Humberto Soto and as I already pointed out, Guzman might as well have brought a bicycle to the ring that night.

No way. Guzman defense is a poor version of PBF. If guys like Barrios can land on him then imagine what a sharpshooter like JMM would do to him. I say he TKOs him. Funeka almost did it and JMM for sure would. Guzman has been one of the most overrated fighters in a while along with Judah. Its all this coulda shoulda woulda with them. I personally never really saw it.

    I say JMM TKO 10-12.

i doubt Guzman will get KO'd by JMM, because Joan will be running the whole fight
