Any inside fighter has a chance with Ali. Cooper luckily managed to corner Ali and catch him. Ali fought with his hands down for his entire career. He may not have been prime yet, but fighting with your hands down always makes you vulnerable to danger.

I think Tyson would go undefeated during Rocky's era if he stayed focused. If you could trap time and keep him as a focused 19/20 year old, then the sky is the limit. Matter of fact, I see Joe Frazier breezing through all of Rocky's opponents as well.

    In boxing anything is possible.

But with that said, I think Tyson would steamroll through Rocky's opponents and I don't mean to undermine Mariano who was a great champion.

But Charles, Moore, Old Louis, Walcott wouldn't beat him Tyson.

Head to head, I think he could beat the versions of all the fighters Rocky beat.

Where the problem would arise for me is having the consistency to do it 49 straight times and the conditioning issue. Mike only had one knockout past round 7 in his career and he'd almost certainly have to fight at a lighter weight to have genuine 15 round stamina. Then again, if he's lighter, maybe he carries that slightly lighter punch into the late rounds better.

I wouldn't rule it out because I do think pretty highly of Tyson H2H, but those would be the two issues that would leave me a bit hesitant on whether he could repeat the same feat. I imagine he'd still buzzsaw through the vast majority of Marciano's opposition even if he eventually stumbled.

Yes and I don't think its necessarily a better feat than Tyson's own championship run from 86-90

People talk about 49-0, but Rocky only fought at the top level for around 4years, most of those 49 were journeymen, only about 10 of them decent contenders, only about 5 of those were real quality HWs. None of them had the combination of power, strength, chin, to keep Tyson off them. This isn't a massive task for Tyson by any means

Rocky Marciano had about a dozen amateur fights, no trainer.
His first several professional fights he didn't have either his manager (Weill) or hs trainer (Goldman) working with him, it was just him and his friend Allie Colombo. Weill had just signed Rocky and sent him back up to Boston to fight on Sam Silverman's shows, no attention was paid to training or grooming him for success.
Nobody really took much of an interest in him until he'd knocked out half dozen or dozen men, then Goldman was assigned to work his corner and spend time training him.
He didn't even start to get professionally trained until then.

Tyson, on the other hand, was being groomed and trained by a great team, to be heavyweight champion, from the age of 13, years before he even turned pro.

So, if people want to make the comparison, and give him D'amato and Rooney in Marciano's era, let's see how he does with them coming on board so late in the game (as Goldman and Weill did for Rocky).

As long as he did n't have a 'Buster Douglas' moment, then I see Tyson unbeaten in that era. Walcott and Charles would put up stubborn resistance though.
