Yes...there was something great and almost magical about Sal Sanchez...he was the most unique Mexican champ and would have gone on to even greater things..and for some reason I don't think he would have been a division hopper..I believe that he would have stayed in the feather class and dominated it much like Monzon did the middles. Maybe he would have retired at the top.

Its not the best picture of Louis...

Sal Sanchez was the total package and his premature death put an end to a possible top ten ATG career...

But i think it's Vargas who stood out for me... the guy looked great before he fought Tito and always found a way to come up short, he lost his committment and that was that.

All through the early part of his career at BW he was a switch hitter who was as difficult to hit cleanly as PBF. He only became reckless as you described when he moved to FW and began to believe his own hype.

IMO Hamed definitely could have been an ATG had he kept his head on straight and (especially) stayed at BW where his height and reach were better suited.

Well that kind of falls in line with what I said. I dont know about the defensive talk your saying, but the reason he started getting hit and hurt more at feather was because the huge advantages he had over his opponents was starting to be less of a factor. Power, strength, skill level, and guys were punching back harder. Thats when the flaws started rearing their ugly head. Lets face it, he didnt exactly face the best guys at bantam either especially compared to feather.
