Would having no tv contracts for promoters be a good idea?

im thinking that at the moment if a promoter has a deal with sky they can make money from an otherwise unworthy card .

would it make for better overall cards and main events because they wouldnt make it to tv unless they were good?

at the moment some promoters can just put a mismash card together and make a decent chunk of change

Yes i think this is what Sky need to do when the next set of contracts expire. It makes things far too cosy for promoters imo.

If they had no contract it would mean that promoters would be forced to put on higher quality shows and compete for the dates and it would also mean that Hennessey would get a look in as well as possibly Goodwin promotions. This way fans would get the best cards possible.

It gives Sky more flexibility and keeps the promoters on their toes

Make the promoter budget and plan a card, putting values on each fight and go and sell that to the TV exec's.

That way it challenges both parties, a.) the promoter to work as hard as possible to match the right fights for the card and shows success and b.) the TV exec's to put the appropriate money where their mouth is and support the right fights/cards.
