Tommy Hearns vs Bob Foster, champion from 1968 until he retired in 1974?

It wouldn't shock me if an elite fighter from one era defeated an elite fighter from another era, no.

No Henry Maske vs. Thomas Hearns, that would be more difficult, regarding how he dominated Virgil Hill in 1991. It would be probably a close decision, if both show their best.

But in the 1 or 2 decades between Fosters era and Maskes developed boxing a lot.

For an all time great his competition at least at light heavy weight was pedestrian. He moved up class with no success.

Maske was an elite fighter? How many times have you seen his name in a top ten all time light heavylist?

In his own time. Not in an all time greats list.

I doubt it and these number are not exact, especially measured; Henry Maske looks a half head taller at least. He has nearly the same height as Muhammed Ali. Foster looks significant smaller than whom.
At the very least has Maske advantage in reach, which might be one of the longest of every light-heavyweight.
I thought Foster is about the height of Michalczewsky (who is 5cm shorter than Maske).

But Bob Foster was the first to cut Muhammad Ali on Nov 21 1972, even though he visited the canvas 8 times before the stoppage. Bob really lost to only heavyweights, retired as champion at light heavyweight in 1974 after his draw with Jorge Ahumada, intelligent choice.

I thought he lost even before he became world champion once. But there were also second-tier boxer which defeated him, not just the top boxers.
Didn't cut Cooper or Banks Clay (maybe Jones)? That Ali he fought was also past his best.

I don't think Maske had lost against all these guys, at least would he have gone the distance (including Ali); he won against a current Cruiserweight world champion, over a decade after his retirement, in a dominant fashion; so he won against every opponents he faced (and has a better record than Lewis).
