Yes, the question is, would Herbie Hide Have beaten Ingo Johansson? Does the chin of Hide stand the hammer of Thor?
I suspect the answer to your 1st question is maybe, depends who landed big first. I think the answer to your 2nd question is likely, no.
What I have seen of Ingo I am not hugely impressed, no disrespect maybe I just need to check out more. While I think he could KO Herbie I also feel if Herbie used his head and boxed, moved, with his speed advantage he could win on points. On the other hand I suppose Patterson was vaguely similar to Herbie as a small HW with fast hands so it could end up the same as the first Floyd fight for Ingo. So maybe I am just agreeing with the first two posters after all lol!
Agreed, except I doubt it goes to points. Two bangers with suspect chins. Hide the faster, with the more suspect chin. This is the definition of a who lands big first, wins by stoppage, imo.
Would Hide's chin hold up if Ingo managed to land his best shot? No. Very unlikely that he survives the round. He wasn't very durable and wasn't a defensive wizard either. He had good legs for surviving and moving away, but more often than not Ingo would manage to finish him off. Who would win? That's a totally different question. I'm not sure. It's a close fight on paper since both guys had numerous flaws and we're of a similar level of overall ability. It's certainly possible Hide stops Ingo rather than the other way around before he has to worry about the bingo bazooka in the first place.
Cowboy shoot out- Does Hide have more dog in him though? Patterson certainly out dogged Ingo but Patterson was never stopped by anything less then having his brain made into soup.
Hide for all his shortcomings hit very hard. Was usually in sculpted condition and took a pretty good hammering from Riddick Bowe before being stopped. He was also a decent size when fighting at heavy. He’s a got a good shot at beating ingo
