It's not that I think fighters have no pride or honour, but rather it's because of three things:
    1) Potentially huge money to be made or lost.
    2) Top fighters, like any other athlete, are driven by an insane will to win. That's why they're at the top.
    3) Steroids are used by around 50% of gym goers (about 70% in my gym) they are used even at High School level in team sports like Rugby, American Football etc. It's not widespread, but it happens. Certainly at College level. These are not even pro athletes, there is no money in it except the will to win. That ties into point #2. A fighter who is not winning is not getting big money. A player on a team who is not performing will be replaced by someone who is.
Perhaps I am cynical, but I think athletes will do whatever it takes to win, to gain an edge.

Your arguments pretty decebtly describes the reasons people dope up, cheat, lie, & steal money victory & Glory from others.
Yet it is one-sided-I can describe all the causes that say people are motivated to be fit-& endless lists of unknown & famous fit individuals-but it would be false that this describes the average person in most places like America.
Nor does it give countervailing motivations, difficulties & deterrents.

HOWEVER I am not saying that using PEDs is at all rare.
But nobody can tell others what that rate is-although it is much higher in certain sports due to testing protocol, the culture, the amount of effect that cheating has on the results...

I even just corrected someone re: steroids not being that common OR more particularly used at a way lower dosage level in the 1990's.
Because the available information PROVES that not only was heavily juicing common & especially effective in a sport that measures & rewards exactly what steroids, HGH & related potentiators accomplish-extreme muscularity with high definition, not even the indirect effects re: how it translates to sports perfomances.

But mainly it has been perfectly legal at the highest levels forever.

But where is the evidence that 1/2 of all gym goers use steroids?!?
I have never heard statistics like that 1/2 of all gym goers use sterouids!
Please show me the links to that evidence.

This is very unlikely-many gyms are not that serious-& many folks go irregularly at best.
I have been a member of gyms over decades-I have not even heard folks claim these kinds of numbers.

See you can reveal accurate facts like individual anecdotes & incentives to do anything...
But that is extremely invalid to use to draw statistical conclusions!

Like if I see a few people of a certain group & they are tall, fat, bald, athletic whatever...
OR cite numerous say Scottish Vietnamese Senagalese people who have any of these characteristics...
This does not suggest that all, or even the average, person shares these traits.

I dunno if you are accurate about your own gym having over 2/3 of folks on steroids.
But it's possible if a serious enough gym & the culture of usage is that prevalent & expecially if they are spreading it around amongst themselves.

But please tell me precisely why you say 1/2 of all those who go to gyms use steroids?
I do not think that evidence is out there-& that much lower levels are postulated.
