He did not make it 10 vs Bowe , as a matter of fact Bowe stopped him face down and out.............Holyfield did not even make the 20 count...

Okay, I took the question differently - could Holyfield take the same punishment that Tyson took in Tokyo - not just a straight match up between Holyfield and Tokyo Douglas.

A similar question might’ve been: Could Ali have taken the same exact punches Frazier took from Foreman in Jamaica? That clearly isn’t calling in Ali’s ability to avoid or soften the impact.

So, back to Tokyo, I think Mike took a some very big single shots and heavy accumulated punishment overall - but still upheld a very good if not even great chin.

Evander had great whiskers too - reasonable to perhaps believe he could take that same exact punishment but I wouldn’t say it as a definite.

Holyfield wouldn’t have an inexperienced corner using a condom in the corner. Benton and Duva have him in excellent condition and he beats any version of Douglas imo

Ah you could well be right in your initial interpretation Pug. I like most thought it was a straight match up between the two. I have to say I believe a prime Holy with his never say die and sheer bloody minded attitude, if he was on the wrong end of a beatdown from the “new improved but for one night only” Douglas, he would see the final bell.

Hey Vic, drawing on his actual career. Evander certainly earned the right to be considered a fair chance of surviving that exact Tokyo beat down.

Tbh, after he beat Tyson, I thought Buster would also beat Holy - how was I to know that he was going to turn back into the fat, Nutty Professor?

Buddy Love was gone forever…instead we got Flubber Blubber. :D

Haha I know! I also expected Douglas to go on from there and beat Holy…in fact I was praying for him to do so. How could he go from the very top to rock bottom in a matter of weeks for goodness sake!

My reason for desperately wanting him to beat Holyfield was that I wanted a rematch between Buster and Mike, in which I wanted to see “Douglas vs Tyson…The Revenge!”
But unfortunately Buster’s sudden lack of motivation (I won’t say lack of hunger because Buster’s appetites in somethings certainly had not diminished!) and a 3 year stretch inside for Mike scuppered any hopes of that ever happening.

True, but he packed more muscle as he aged.
