Would there have been a bigger crowd if this fight was held at MSG, taking into account Joe's Italian heritage?
Maybe. Apparently tickets for this fight have not moved as expected. High prices and just not a huge amount of interest from casuals.
yep,no where near as far to travel for both east coast fans and joe fans, also the size of new york you would have had alot of casuals going to a big fight in their hometown.its a pity,i mean as a fan i fell rather robbed that i can rarely see my favorite fighters in their hometowns, especially john duddy but i guess it's just one of those things.
If this fight ends close or disputed in some way in could go to NY, next, the .U.S is in a recession now so people are afraid to spend moneyatsch that's why it isn't selling like it should, also the UFC is hot right now boxing isn't..
WHen the cheapest seat is over $200 and no marquee name in involved, this should be expected. The terrible undercard doesn't help either.
Hopkins isn't exactly exciting to watch plus you got a huge ufc match on the same night with one of their most popular fighter.
There's a reason it's in Vegas. The ticket sales aren't the whole equation. People don't understand the economics of Vegas. It's not about gate.
I don't understand what's the advantage of the Thomas and Mack Center in comparision to the MSG. Isn't it part of the university? The MGM Grand and the Mandalay Bay make shitloads of money because they house the fans who lose money by gambling, too. But the Thomas and Mack Center? Can s.o. enlighten me?
