Definitely. It was and still is an unnecessary division that splits the heavyweight division in half.
Not at all. Guys like Byrd, Quarry etc. were built for cruiser, not for heavy. Unless a small heavy has a hard punch, it is very difficult for them to compete with much bigger men.
Does anybody ever pay the slightest attention to Bridger ? I think typing the word "Bridger " on this forum should merit a ban. No Offence.
I think it's fine, but the division's weight limit is huge. I think the middleweight limit should be 168, Super Middleweight should be 175 and Light Heavyweight should be moved to 185. EDIT: I don't really like the name Cruiser weight, too. Cruisers are small ships. I think Light Heavyweight and Cruiser Weight should switch names. It would also follow the same naming conventions in the other weight classes. So Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Cruiser Weight, Light Heavyweight, Heavyweight.
Get rid of bridgerweight and make the cruiserweight limit a bit higher, so that some of the smaller heavyweights have a place to go. I feel like that would make a lot more sense than getting rid of cw.
It would be very bad for boxing to remove the CW division. The leap from LHW 175-201 is way to great of a chasm. Unless they adjust LHW to 190-200, then it makes a bit more sense. The LHW's are much bigger as a whole today than they were yesteryear. But going from 176-201+ would be absolutely ridiculous.
