Would it be technically possible for someone to bring back boxing, set up a new boxing body etc, with old school rules or some of them?

    eg 15 rounds etc

modern boxing commissions wouldnt allow it, too turned off by the duk koo kim tragedy, but hypothetically I could see hardcore fans getting into it. one thing's for sure, lots of outcomes would be different with 15 round fights rather than 12 round championship bouts.

That's what they said, but boxing was big on network TV back then and it was easier to fit 12 rounds + intros and interviews in an hour than 15 rounds.

As it was, the WBC was the first to stop 15 rounds, but other organizations still kept them for awhile.

Mancini-Kim is also cited as the reason for day before weigh-ins, but I have my doubts about that too. A lot of money was lost on the aborted Spinks-Muhammad rematch when Eddie couldn't make weight.

What if there was a mega rich guy living in Dubai or something and he said, this is my new boxing championship. I'm taking it back.

I think it would be really interesting if they brought back same day weigh ins - a number of guys would have to change weight classes (Rios for example), which would lead to some really interesting match ups.

I figure any guy who rehydrates 10+ pounds on a day before weigh inwould be forced to move up if it was same day weigh ins - Bute to LH, Ortiz to LMW etc etc...

Could really change some divisions, even if it's purely hypothetical.

Do 13 rounds. It will eliminate alot of draws and fighters will have to test themselves a bit more.
