Would it made a difference if Leonard didn't duck Hagler and fought him earlier

 The art of ducking champions from weight classes you've never fought in. Leonard was a master at it.

Hagler was actually a counter-puncher at heart. Watch more than his last three fights. Leonard being a 'slickster' isnt accurate either. He had one of the best offensive arsenals in the history of the sport at 147.

And no, natural welterweights don't duck natural middleweights, and in this case damn near the epitome of natural in both instances.

What the **** are you on about? Oh, it's irwin. :patsch

This place has gone totally bonkers.
Today we have to defend Hagler's decision to retire and now this drivel.
Ray was at his peak at 147.Marvin at 160.
    You do the math.

Leonard admits he waited until he saw changes in Hagler. To me, that takes a little shine off of what is a narrow victory at best.

I was a huge Hagler guy, so my bias might come into play here, but I think there is no doubt Hagler beats Leonard any time prior to when they met; he may have beaten him that night.

We had to go through some drivel about Hagler not taking a rematch that was never on the table.
Now the guy with the best and probably most respected resume of modern times is a ducking slickster.:patsch
He sure did a good job of hiding his real self behind that fake killer instinct he was allegedly renowned for.:rofl
    The Twilight Zone indeed.

Sometimes the lack of wars can be a huge advantage when you're fighting into your late 30's.
Could also mean he's been too far ahead of majority of his opponents.
