Would it shock you if Silva rematched Sonnen... and dismantled him with ease?

Silva may win easier this time but I wouldnt be surprised if we get a replay of what happened before. Sonnen is quite possibly the greatest takedown artist in the history of the sport and maybe the greatest at keeping them down.

 

You may very well be correct. But I definitely want to find out. Hopefully this fight will happen very soon after the Stann fight (which is no gimme fight, and could ruin any rematch plan.)

Some people are dismissing a rematch with Sonnen, and I think that's ridiculous. How can they not be intrigued by the possibilities?

I agree. Sonnen would be foolish to stand with Silva this time around.
He may have to in order to set up the td.

 

He didn't stand with him before except to set up the takedown. Sonnen did exactly what Okami was too cowardly to do, which was to charge in behind single strikes thrown with caution to the wind and bad intentions and close that gap regardless of the consequences, and people don't remember that there were consequences. Anderson hit him and hard several times but Sonnen has a good beard that allowed him to take a couple shots in return for holding Silva down for the next four and a half minutes.

It's an intriguing match and much like Rua/Griffin II it'll answer the questions about how much injuries, roids, etc. played a role in the first bout.

That makes it more intriguing to me. Anyone who hates Sonnen has the chance to see him get smashed by Silva.
Unless Sonnen take the fight to Anderson like he did the first time.

I think most people who hate Sonnen would rather see Silva KO him. However, maybe he'll submit him again.
Or maybe this time Sonnen will implement the same game plan and take the victory.

 

To me I have relatively little interest in Silva-Sonnen - Silva already beat him with an injured rib, the mental pressure of backlash from the Maia fight and Sonnen being on PEDs. Now I'm sure if it comes to round I'll get sucked in but I'm legitimately more interested in seeing how Silva would do against Stann, Bisping or Munoz. Or of course GSP.

 

I disagree only because stylistically Sonnen is going to give him trouble even without the factors you mentioned. Not that Anderson also isn't capable of KO'ing Sonnen in quick fashion, but he has the ability to do that with anyone.

Bisping isn't even remotely in the same league as Silva, Munoz may stand a chance with his wrestling, but this is also a guy who got rocked by Demian Maia and would likely be flat on the mat before he had a chance to get Silva to the ground.

And yes, I'd like to see GSP/Silva. If that fight can be made instead of Sonnen, I wouldn't complain. But it seems unlikely that GSP is going to move up.

Sonnen still seems like the best bet in my opinion. I don't want to eliminate opponents that Silva has already beat as possibly challengers if the alternative is to see someone like Bisping in with him instead.

 

Sonnen's a terrible stylistic matchup for Silva. Sure WHILE ON THE GAS he could take down an INJURED Silva but his lack of ground and pound means that he's not going to get a TKO victory. And that leaves Silva twenty-five minutes to get the submission...which given Sonnen's glass neck he would get nine times out of ten.

Go back and watch the fight. Silva was clearly ****ed and there for the taking. That Sonnen failed despite being on stuff shows he's not in Silva's league

 

And I want Bisping to get a shot because its my best chance to get to see Anderson Silva live and in person.
