The human gene pool hasn't changed in a mere 3 generations. Wlad's father could have reasonably been Dempsey's son.... age wise. I suppose Jess Willard would be 8 feet tall and 400 pounds today.
Not Hide, and certainly not Doughboy, but Lewis, Bruno, Haye, and probably Fury and possibly Joshua would all batter the drunken child from pillar to post. Same with that other drunkard AmeriCAN....the black one....was his name Johnson, or Louis, or Patterson, or Liston. I don't remember...theyre all drunken cans compared to Lewis, Tyson, K2, Ali, Foreman and Holmes. Hell, Potvetkin would be the GOAT if he were born in 1918. He'd be 177(177)-1 losing only to Marciano before retiring at 28.
Dempsey would be a great cruiserweight champion. Wlad would toy with him at long range and either out point Jack or get a late stoppage. It would probably look a lot like the Wlad-Chagaev fight with even that seasoned amateur star being barely able to land body shots on the defensively brilliant Wlad. Then Wlad went to work late and messed up the tiring Chagaev. Wlad's career has been so stellar, dominant and lengthy that his haters remind me of monkeys at the zoo content to fling poo out of frustration. Very entertaining to observe.
He'd have been a damn entertaining Cruiserweight with the ability to have a handful of fights later on in his career at Heavyweight to cash in.
:good Some of the responses in this thread are bat crazy :-( Dempsey was entertaining and great...for his era. He'd have to bulk up some to become a full CW. He'd be a top CW today. Top recent-current HWs would simply be too big and strong for Jack (same for 70s & 80s HWs). And no amount of aggressiveness would change that. In fact Dempsey's aggressiveness would get him KTFO even quicker.
A prime Dempsey was knocking out big men so size is really not an issue especially against the cruiser's you mention they would all get ko'd by Dempsey. Wlad would have to make it out of the first six rounds to maybe see his size make a difference
so stellar in fact that wlad has been KO'd by nobodies several times lol.dempsey would be a great heavyweight in any era all he has to do is land on wlad's fine china chin and wlad would panic like always en route to being KO'd.lol at comparing dempsey with chagaev you fool.
How would current HW's have made it in Jack Dempsey's era? Everyone has the advantage in their era and the reason is obvious.
Wlad would have easily kept Dempsey at long range and would have stopped him. Tyson would have absolutely destroyed Dempsey. He would be better suited at cruserweight.
Tyson learned Dempsey's attributes, so I doubt that. It would of probably be close though, but Dempsey would come out the victor.
klitshckos got stopped by a LHW nevermind CW, and a 37 year old failure who wouldn't see the light of day in Dempseys time. Demps would unify against these guys.
NOT by a guy middleweight, nor by a retired nobody. and note demps tore that guy apart in the return, not ran like a coward. Wow that backfired on you bad. and certainly not in his prime or as a champ -if we are talking outside this, ali, Louis and Johnson all got stopped outside them too. see, you shouldn't try to argue back with a failed argument.
