Go look at every H2H LaMotta vs. ... and tell me he's not overrated on this forum.

He's maybe the 10th-best middleweight ever, but the vast majority of posters rate him to beat guys rated much higher at that weight AND at higher weights.

    How is that not overrated?

Yes, he testified that he threw the fight. But go read up on it. There have been a lot of questions raised about whether that was true. He also said many times that it was an injury and that he didn't throw it. He 'admitted it' in 1961. Not at the time.

But if he DID throw the fight, then he's a mobbed-up fighter. Period.

It took him a while to get a title shot? It took a lot of guys a while to get a title shot. Robinson by virtue of his many wins over Jake was more deserving but Jake got the shot at 160 first, right? There was only one champ, people had to wait in line. If Jake is the most deserving middleweight contender, what does that make Robinson, who had a series of wins over him?

Give me a complete list of mobbed-up fighters and we can go through it and see if he ever fought any of them. I reject the idea that you can say with certainty that he never fought anyone with mob ties other than Fox, unless you can provide a definitive list.

it's ok man, i don't think lamotta beats atg lhw's, we rate him about the same and we both rate him pretty much with the consensus.

edit - i've also heard he was injured for/around the fox fight. doesn't mean much to whether it was or wasn't a fix imo.
