Martinez has stopped his last four (credible) opponents. How would Kirkland make it out of round 2? Martinez hits hard as ****.

I think it would be interesting while it lasted.. I do believe Martinez will eventually take him out though.. Just not immediately like most do.

Martinez doesn't have a granite chin either, he's tasted canvas more than a few times but Kirkland should stay away for now. There's not any fighter alive that can take Kirkland's punches for a sustained period of time, but Serg would have him out of there befote he took too many.

    Kirkland vs Cotto
    Kirkland vs Canelo
    Kirkland vs Ishida 2
    Kirkland vs Margarito

all great fights to make right now within Kirklands weightclass, if Martinez isnt going to fight him at 154, then no sense in fighting him.

I would really really love to see Kirkland vs Ishida 2.

I think the main consensus is that SM beats JK which I am in agreement. What I don't get is those that say that if JK gets out of the first few rounds he will be ok: Martinez has shown that he can stop opponents late so that doesn't make sense.

In respects to those saying that Martinez has been down more than Kirkland most of those KDs have been due to balance and feet being tangled.

I think JK would leave himself too open for a SM counter. Martinez probably does stop him as he seems to have found his power at 160.

I can see Kirkland roughing Martinez up for two rounds, maybe land a hard shot...but he's still doomed.

As much as I am a fan of Martinez, I think his durability isn't really that good.

I don't think it will take THAT many clean blows from Kirkland to really hurt him.

The only really solid puncher he has faced was Pavlik, who barely hit him yet actually did bust up his face.

I don't think Martinez can survive much battle damage. I see just a few hard shots from Kirkland really messing him up.

However, only one good straight left from Martinez at any point of the fight could potentially knock Kirkland the **** out.

I don't know what has happened to Kirkland's chin. If it's like it was against Ishida, he has no chance against Martinez. However, prior to his prison sentence, he had a good chin. That version of Kirkland could knock Martinez out.
