If Jimmy Young had been given five attempts to win the world heavyweight title (and this knowledge gave him the motivation to train), would he have won it?

Depends on how many crooked judges he had to deal with.

Agaist the same champion, or against an assortment of guys who were holding the title at the time of these five attempts?

Young was avoided like the plague by Ali and Norton both...Young deserved a rematch against both of them. After both robberies, they certainly weren't confident of getting by Young again.

Young was not really a decisive winner. He was just a ***** to try and look impressive against.

Well if he'd have gotten a shot at the winner of ali-spinks he'd have most likely beaten them both by quite a margin.

The winner of holmes v norton was the real champ, ofcourse, and young wouldn't have beaten either of them.

So I say no, not in that era.

NO ,he did not have a winners mentality,he was a negative spoiler, who was twice beaten by the underwhelming Ossie Ocasio , when Young was 29 and 30 years old.

He had his chances, but did not have a champions will to win.

Beat Ali handedly,in my view; I had Norton beating him by round. The Ali fight was a stinker, but that had more to do with Ali showing up in disgraceful shape and putting up a largely non-effort.

Obviously yes, he probably would have.
He already has in his first two attemps, ali and Norten, beat them both, though not given the W by the judges, he can't help that. He already beat Foreman too.

Jimmy Young got his ass kicked by cruiserweights and that was after Ali and Forman.
Pat Cuillo 190 lbs. had no problem with Young.

Well, seeing as how he couldn't take the title off of a walking corpse that was begging him to take it, I would say no, never, because he wasn't made of the stuff that makes champions.

Part of what made Young good was long periods of being defensive. His offensive skills lacked.

He'd never win a title fighting to "take it from the champ", he'd always have to be the Young of Ali and Norton to win rounds.

So, the answer to this is, who is he facing, and who is judging?

Magna,...brother,...you've been here for six years now. It might be time to get an avatar. It's like you moved here six years ago and you haven't unpacked yet. There are books and photo albums and probably some shitty kitchen appliances you got off of infomercials that need air. Do you see what I'm trying to tell you?
