If he did'nt have the Trilogy with Ali?

Notable wins:LHW Champion Bob Foster, Oscar Bonavena x2, Eddie Machen, George Chuvalo, Buster Mathis (Unbeaten), Jerry Quarry 2, Jimmy Ellis 2.

Yes by virtue of his dominance from 67.

However I think he'd be clearly behind tyson, holyfield etc.

The victory over ali is significant to his high ranking as are his losses to him.

His win over Ali is one of two candidates for best win at the weight ever. (that and Schmeling over Louis)

He doesn't need it to be an ATG, but it does a hell of a lot.

He had a 5 year reign of being champion which is great but i feel during that time he kinda cherry picked..Am I wrong to say that?

He fought some decent opposition including the reigning lightheavy champ. But was it consistently the best available opposition? I'd say no, especially with hindsight. No shavers, no norton, no patterson

I think so, but it would be close. Would have liked to see Frazier vs. Liston, Norton, Shavers, Mac Foster, or Lyle just to see if he could deal with a puncher. Bonavena nearly stopped Frazier.

if he never fought Ali, I don't think he would be great. Beating Ali and having those fights with him and being intertwined with Ali helped his legacy.

He definitely would be great! I feel that he'd make the top 20 heavyweights of all time, even without the trilogy.
