Joe Walcott the sawn off "Barbados Demon," who often battled with success at higher weights.
Would he be as formidable an opponent today as he was in his own time?
Or is it time to relinquish our tenacious grip on the past and concede that modern champions probably could embarrass him today? What say you?

He wasn’t a H2H monster in his own day, wasn’t even the greatest welter of his own era despite being a P4P freak.

The people of his own day would disagree with you.

He was widely regarded as the GOAT at welterweight, until Sugar Ray Robinson came along!

No, not at all, he'd be comfortable at lightweight instead of having to hurt himself brutally to get there. He'd end up at welter probably but iron jaws and thunderous punching power never go out of fashioned. He could be outboxed during his career, sure. But he'd get belts.

He'd be great. I read that he had a freakish reach for his weight. He might not be the greatest but he would make a big splash.
