Nunn vs Kalambay still remains one of the bigger mysteries in terms of what could have been had it lasted longer than a round. I feel like Nunn’s perfect left counter robbed us of what would have been very interesting chess match between 2 slick master boxers.

Do you think Kalambay, with his style and skills, would have been able to beat a talent like Nunn at any point in their careers? Pre-Toney Nunn would have convincingly beaten Kalambay had it gone the distance. Post-Toney Nunn vs Kalambay in a rematch would have been a much more closer and competitive fight IMO.

I do not see it Nunn at that stage was still somewhat disciplined and his size, range control and speed would beat Kalambay in a rematch

I think Nunn most likely would have won a rematch by unanimous decision.

Nunn was too big, strong, and rangy for Kalambay. Kalambay has his moments scoring but no damage would be done. Nunn just throws too many and cleanly outpoints him.

I don't know if that fight was a fluke. Kalambay never saw anyone like Nunn and probably didn't know how to fight him or expect what he got.

Probably not. It would have never happened regardless because of the absolutely definitive ending of their fight.

A fighter psyche never the same after that kind of ko loss to opponent. Rematch either Kalambay goes into shell and lose on pts or another Nunn ko.

I don’t think the KO loss really affected Kalambay mentally that much. He fought McCallum again in a rematch and still gave a really good fight, he arguably won but lost a very tight split decision. The Graham rematch is a different story though...

He might mean specifically against the fighter that ko'd him.

Most times it rings true but then you have great fighters like Lewis who shatter the notion as a rule. It takes something special to come back and beat fighters that have stopped or brutalized you.

No ,Nunn would have beaten him again .Kalambay would probably have been affected by the ko ,to the point he'd be doing everything just to survive the fight. Nunn would find him easy to out box but almost impossible to ko this time around.
The crowd expecting another ko from Nunn would be severely dissatisfied as he cruises to a wide points win .
