Given the gap in accomplishments it's not really surprising many see this as a mismatch. Sort of like Ali vs Ingemar Johansson

If it was such a stacked era why was his resume so thin? He didnt "hang with the best". The best of his era was clearly Duran and he wasnt even competitive in that fight. He barely beat a slipping Laguna. Those are the two best names on his resume. After that his resume drops way off and you have to start throwing guys like Hernandez and Ortiz who were way past their best and fighting their final fight.

What would it look like if you compared Mayweather and Maidana’s accomplishments?

You don’t base an opinion based on accomplishments.

You take them into account. But you base your opinion, or you should base your opinion on how you think they’d have matched up stylistically.

Another fine addition to the forum.

    Calling a fighter a chump??

    Really?

You’ve made half a dozen posts scoffing at the notion that Manny could even have been troubled, without making a single reference to how they’d have matched up on the night stylistically.

Manny having beaten Hatton etc, has nothing to do with a H2H fight against Buchanan.

Sure Manny is a legendary fighter with an incredible list of accolades. But it doesn’t mean that he couldn’t have struggled against a certain style.

Love Ken but this is a bad match up for him. True he beat Jim Watt who was a southpaw but Watt isnt a Manny with blazing speed.
Buchanans main weapon is the jab with is nullified by a southpaw to a great extent.

Buchanan is the bum,he was such a great fighter you can't even spell his name correctly.By rd 5 Buchanan would have been so busted up in the face ( had they fought) the fight would have been stopped.Pacquaio fought P4P greats through out his career & in 8 different weight division,Buchanan fought 1 & ended up being stopped & losing his title in the process.Arguello was my Idol & a P4P Great & Pacquaio is right up there with him.Comparing the two is a joke!

I can't believe we are comparing these 2 fighters against each other.Pacquaio speed, power bust Buchanan up just like he did against the best of his era & he did beat top fighters.Hatton was considered the best 140 pounder when Pacquaio (after just 1 fight at 135) moved up & Knocked Hatton cold in 2nd rd with one punch.Even Floyd refused to fight Pacquaio for 7 years until he noticed him slowing down & the pressure became to big & he had no choice but to fight him but by then Manny was 36 & no where near what he was.

I think Ken has the hand-to-eye coordination to beat Pac-Man, but not the mentality.

Buchanan came up in an era when video games weren’t a thing. He probably played some pinball but nothing like even the more rudimentary, two-dimensional video games like Pac-Man. He’d have been flummoxed by the graphics and even the concept and wouldn’t have had the patience to learn it.

    And Ms. Pac-Man? No way.
