Just out of curiosity because we've been discussing Fury i decided to watch his fight vs McDermott again and there's no way Fury didn't lose this fight you can't tell me with a straight face that Fury only has 1 loss on his record.

Tyson Fury vs John McDermott 1

    1 McDermott
    2 McDermott
    3 Fury
    4 McDermott
    5 McDermott
    6 Fury
    7 McDermott
    8 McDermott
    9 Fury
    10 Fury

    96-94 McDermott

I decided to watch this fight again as i haven't seen it in years and i still think it's a very bad decision, McDermott walked down Fury all night landed the harder more effective punches and even out jabbed the bigger man in numerous rounds. Alot of Fury's punches were arm punches and whilst i do think he put in a good shift in the last 2 rounds i still don't think that was enough to earn him the decision.

Terry O'Connor's scorecard of 98-92 in favour of Fury is one of the worst scorecards i've ever seen, and it's the reason the rules changed in regards to referee's scoring British title fights. It's plainly obvious he was biased as McDermott's dad had knocked him out in a fight in the 70s so clearly it was his petty way of getting some payback on the McDermott family.

I don't think that you understand what "in the pocket" actually means.

But much larger and a few levels above football player O Halloran which you seem to think was some sort of milestone in Norton's career. "Oooh, he fought a big guy"

Sure, and so what? Wallin is about 30lbs heavier than Norton and well trained. Fury is about 30lbs heavier than Wallin and trained on crisps as he so often did. Nevertheless, as previously noted, Wallin made especial mention of Fury's size and how tiring it was to fight him.

    Norton never fought Fury.

And my point is that it doesn't matter if he isn't QUITE as good as Norton at this because he has 5 inches in height and 60lbs in weight on him and he isn't afraid to use them, as Wallin noted.

Yeah dude, trust me, these other guys I know scored it big time for Fury. They had him winning handily, these guys. And then there's old Al at the barbershop who said that it reminded him of an old fashioned asswhuppin.

Gee, funny they have weight classes in boxing. They should scrap them.

If Norton got caught flush and full power by AJ they'd still be digging bits of his jaw up in archaeological sites.

Meanwhile, Wilder 2 Fury still beats Norton.

I'd go with Fury by UD, his jab would befuddle Norton.

Norton took away Ali's jab and Norton got past Holmes's jab so i'm not sure why you think that.

Those greats didn't have an 85 in reach either.

But many smaller fighters have been able to get past his jab Usyk has a smaller reach than Norton 78 inches to 80 and he had no problem landing on Fury.

If Norton can get past Ali and Holmes jab he can certainly get past Fury's jab and land over hand rights which Fury is suspect to.

Ken Norton would've done far more than trouble Fury.................He arguably beat the closest thing to Fury the HW division had 3 times (I say closest to Fury because slowed down Ali was closer than pre-forced retirement Ali).

You could consider this a 50/50 fight, maybe slightly for Norton. Norton's main problem was hitters not out boxers/boxer punchers. Fury even for his size has been troubled by much smaller men previously.

McDermott 6'3, Pajkic 6'3, Cunningham 6'3, Usyk 6'3, have all either seriously troubled Fury or dropped him people overlook Fury has struggled with numerous smaller fighters.

Please, are you saying Fury has a better jab than Ali & Holmes?

If Fury can get to Norton he can land punches to the face, which Norton is susceptible to.

Norton would bring a level of conditioning that Fury has never seen.

Norton could fight hard against great heavyweights for 15 grueling rounds... Fury slowed down immensely after just 6 against Usyk and has been in trouble late more then once.

Say what you want about Norton but he was one of the most well conditioned Heavyweights of all time can you imagine Fury fighting at the pace Norton and Holmes did ? especially in the 15th round ? Fury would have a heart attack.

Fury would die if he had to replicate Jimmy Young's pace from the Young fight.

I think people are mistaking size and power... As if Fury is going to wallop Norton out of there because he's big like Cooney did.

I'd put good money on Norton to beat Fury. He swam in much, MUCH deeper waters and was still one of the best in the world, in one of the best eras for the weight class ever. His results against Ali speak for themself.
