Lockett was WBO mandatory challenger, so Pavlik had to fight him eventually or lose his belt. Manfredo was not a mandatory.

Not singleing you out here, but the more any of us mention nationality, etc, the worse this crap gets. Granted, we will root for the locals, but how many people in the UK seriously picked Lockett over Pavlik. We don't HAVE to make this ALL about nationality, etc.... I think if we can't make our point about boxing WITHOUT, then we can't make our point at all. ;)

See, your poll options says all that needs to be said. Had you not been a nationalistic **** sucker, and tried to be fair (and what seems to be the obvious) with the way you wanted to put it would've been: Yes, Im UK and NO, I'm a Yank. All these polls are is a friggin roll count for which country has more people logged in at the time, about 99%.

By a guy with a bad back that will fight, at most, twice a year because the back hampers his training? You been drinking the kool-aid......

Well, since Pav's next fight might well be Calzaghe, would that be good enough?

actually, i think no american wants to see this fight because our attitude toward kessler can be summed up by bernard: "KESSLER?!? WHO IS KESSLER?!?"

just another protected and robotic european fighter with no real credibility nor championship credentials

I've watche Pavlik/Talyor 2 and Kessler/Calzaghe back to back a couple of times. Taylor is faster. No way around it.

Kessler and Pavlik are pretty similar in styles, as mentioned earlier in the thread. Howewer Kessler is the better counterpuncher, and I believe that will give him the edge when Pavlik tries too hard to be the agressor in the fight.
I firmly beleive that Kessler learnt from his loss, and has improved his arsenal after analyzing the Calzaghe fight. His uppercuts hurt Calzaghe and Montoya is working with his body punches ( See his sparring vid).
His punces are crisper, and against types like Pavlik he is too quick and evasive.
I see it a UD for Kessler.

Which is also why Joe C was never up for a fight with the best over here ... they had never heard of him ... his reputation was as large as a small duck pond ... fortunately .. for Joe
