My assertion is that a fighter's ability cannot be accurately gauged against a sub par opponent.

Did Pavlik look good last night? Of course. Did I see any notable improvement in his style? No.

    Wow. Just.....wow.

If KP beats MK then it's fair to say that he is the real deal.

It just makes me laugh how deluded some Euro fans are when it comes to Calzaghe/Kessler and Pavlik/Taylor. They talk as if the former two are God like figures and the latter two are just big jokes. It's laughable.

I agree with that logic...:good The B-Hop Calzaghe fight shed a lot of light as far as I am concerned.

I would really like to see J.T. start establishing himself at 168. He's a damn good fighter.

I take it these Pavlikites have been firmly put in their place with sound boxing logic that suggests Kessler beats the **** out of him?

Pavlik has beaten better fighters than Kessler has....Does Kessler become a real deal by getting beaten by Calz???:patsch

Overall, yes. Losing 116-112 to Calzaghe is a great performance.

The same logic which stated that Hopkins would be lucky to win a round against Calzaghe? The same logic which stated that Calzaghe would dominate Hopkins? :yep

I had it a draw. Hopkins has the type of fighting style where if you only watch his fight live and don't watch it again, you think the busier guy is winning. But watch his fights more closely and you see who is landing the cleaner shots.

If that's the best accomplishment on his boxing resume....:-(

At least you don't contest the fact that Pavlik has beaten better fighters than Kessler.
